My sister got her blood tests back and her bilirubin was 24 and her ALP was 151. Is that bad?

High bilirubin and ALP
It depends on what the range for the lab would be as different hospitals use different references ranges & also different measurement units [the hospital lab that reports my hubbies results has a stated reference range of 3-21 umol/L for Bilirubin and 48-204 U/L for alkaline phosphatase (ALP)]
That wonder of information and not always accurate WIKI states normal as 44-147 U/L for ALP. BLT website says anything over 17 for bilirubin is outside normal range.
Looks like your sisters results are both a bit elevated.

Thanks Katie. It's hard to ask my sister a lot of details, as she is retarded and I pushed her to get herself seen to after my other sister died. I feel I don't want to miss anything with her, especially after not being totally aware of what my other sister was going through. 😩
Does your sister have care or an advocate or are you able to accompany her to appointments to ensure she has relevant follow up. I hadn't seen that you were asking about a 2nd sister who already has a diagnosis of fatty liver.
Does this sister drink or is her issue largely diet and lifestyle related? Obviously having a learning difficulty will create additional issues for managing any condition if she is trying to do so without care.
Katie
She has a social worker but she likes me to go with her sometimes. I tend to send her messages to show to her GP, and so far it has been working well. She drank quite heavily up until she got her ultrasound results which showed very fatty liver but she now drinks non alcohol drinks. She was drinking heavily after our sister died. She also has a very unhealthy lifestyle but she doesn't really understand the severity of her situation. Seemingly she was diagnosed with fatty liver before, which I was not aware of. She lives with her partner who also has learning difficulties, but not as bad as her. I just fear I will be gpinv down the same road again soon. If fatty liver is diagnosed on more than one occasion, does it mean her liver is getting worse?
It's likely that the fatty liver has just never gone away, just because it's fatty doesn't necessarily mean it will turn to fibrosis or worse but obviously a fatty liver isn't desirable. I wonder if she'd be able to get a fibroscan so you can see both the CAP (fat content) and kPa score (fibrosis).
It sounds like she needs you or someone to help advocate and make sure she gets both appropriate care, advice and that she can adapt to the changes that would need to be made to help improve her health.

We are all trying our best. Obviously at the moment, we can't even see each other, with restrictions being the way they are. She is waiting for an appointment to come through from the liver specialist, but God knows when that will be.
