recently been going to the dr regarding stomach pain and change in bowel movements so they ran some blood tests which shown elevated Bilirubin level which came back as 38. I was then sent for another test 2 weeks later and the results came back the same. So now the dr wants me to have a full liver panel blood test and also sending me for a ct scan. This has sent my anxiety through the roof worrying about what it could be. Obvs without the next tests and scan it’s all a guessing game. I’m a 37 year old male and didn’t think I would run into liver problems at this age.

high Bilirubin - worried
Has your dr mentioned something about Gilbert's syndrome in your case? Was it ruled out?
they mentioned a few things it could be and that was one thing that was mentioned. They said could be a blockage somewhere, Gilbert’s , liver disease, or something else causing it.
It’s all a bit new to me and worrying
38 isn't all that high. Mine today were 212 (down from 300 a week ago).
Get the full lot of LFTs and see what is happening, but don't fret in the meantime.
ah ok, I guess compared to yours then 38 isn’t all that high. I am getting full liver bloods done next week so will see what they come back with. Thankyou for the reply
At the worst my partners was 280, yours is elevated but only a bit. I know waiting for tests is the most worrying time, particularly if you have anxiety to deal with anyway but your doctor is doing the right thing by taking it seriously, there are non serious reasons why it might be elevated
What are your other symptoms?
I know having tests can be alarming but it’s better to get things checked out. There are lots of things than can affect your liver and not all of them are scary so try not to worry. Plus the liver is an amazing organ which can regenerate itself so fingers crossed all will be well.
Thankyou for your reply. Yeah I guess it’s the waiting and the unknowing of what it is
The reality is rarely as bad as what we can imagine while we’re waiting. Whatever you do - don’t Google!
Did u ever get to the bottom of this?
