I’m scared seeing my best friend passed in my Arms in 2019 because of chronic hepatitis which later became liver cancer, and I’m today diagnosed with the same condition chronic liver disease with both ALT and AST at 100 it’s very unfortunate for such a young man like me who had never drinks in my whole live to have such a depressing disease @34 yrs … my elder brother already had liver cirrhosis fighting for his life every day may be we where meant to live and die at young age without a family. My eyes itches, abdomen pains after eating and a lot of veins on my body I’m so scared about liver cirrhosis or liver cancer, I have seen how my friend and my brother suffer in the hands of this liver disease…. I will be going to see my doctor on the 2 September if it happened to be a liver cirrhosis or cancer I will just end it myself……. I can’t imagine myself undergoing what my brother and friend passed through 😭. Please guy’s I need your support, is there any one with chronic hepatitis of the liver ? I have been diagnosed over 6yrs now. My palms are Red and recently I found out that my stool is very black what a sad and painful way to die.

First things first. Find out what is causing the hepatitis, Hep B or C can be cured with medication now. Second if it’s auto immune hepatitis they can help you with meds to stop the inflammation. Please don’t feel hopeless. Your condition is treatable.

Hello Ismail, sorry to hear of your situation. I don't know what the health care situation is like in Sierra Leone or what access to tests and treatments you have. Here in the UK someone would have tests to establish the cause of your elevated enzymes and if it was Viral Hepatitis then initiate treatment - Hep C is now curable and Hep B controlable with anti-virals.The hospital would also scan you to try to establish the stage if your liver ill health i.e. fibrosis/cirrhosis and would monitor 6 monthly to check for changes in the liver that might indicate worsening.

You mention having black stools which could be an indication of blood in your stool possibly from internal bleeding. In the UK this would be a 'red flag symptom' requiring urgent/emergency medical intervention. Again apologies for not knowing what access to emergency treatment you have in your country but this symptom alone needs follow up.

I note you have an upcoming appointment and it sounds like you need to ask a lot of questions about the cause, stage and future medical treatment plan for your condition.

Thoughts with you, Katie

Thank you so much Katie, I’m in Italy unfortunately, the medical situation here is nothing good to write home about, even when you have an emergency medical situation u will receive appointments in close to two or three months imaging having all this symptoms but my Dr. give me appointments in two months time only to do a liver scan I’m so devastated and the people hate it so much when you speak English to express or explain your medical situation….. I know are can speak Italian but a medical situation like this need a clear explanation for my doctor to see what I’m suffering from but it’s okay thank you so much Katie fingers crossed 🤞 for the 2rd.

I’m sorry to hear how you are feeling. It’s really hard being diagnosed with an illness that you are so familiar with. I nursed my Dad to cancer that spread to his liver and my Mum to autoimmune liver disease. I have the same disease as that my Mum died of. All I can tell you is that every person is different, and just because your friend and brother died, it doesn’t mean that you will. If all else fails there is the hope of a transplant. Hang in there and look for the rainbows x
