gonna do another post read masking
"im no alky"You won't get much sympathy on here using that phrase!
You don't have to be rolling in the gutter to have an alcohol problem.
The signs are that you can't resist a binge and that's just as much being alcohol dependant as the daily drinker.
It’s horrible waiting for tests. Hopefully they will show that your liver is coping but if you are worried, you know what you need to do. It sounds like you posted because you want support, and for others to confirm what you already know. You’ve done the hard stuff before - the NHS diet and turned your diabetes around, so you can give up the binges too. Good luck!
Ah, you have had tests and they are clear, very good and that should calm you down somewhat. Blood tests arent the whole picture of course, but your 5-8 days is a very good thing and gives alot of recovery time. The Liver is tough organ, I doubt very much you have any damage. I binge drank most weekends for 25years and Im all good. Fibroscan all clear, ultrasound and 3 sets of bloods.
Only 1 in 5 people that seriously misuse alcohol go on to develop serious liver disease. That does not mean alcohol abuse is OK for the other 4!
Alcohol wrecks lives in a lot more ways than liver damage.
Biggest confirmation that someone has an alcohol problem is that they are on the internet asking questions.
The poster is asking about Liver damage on the British Liver Trust page ! I have given them a reasonable answer based on medical data regarding his question.
The poster isn't likely to be drinking enough to cause serious Liver damage.
I am not disputing other issues around Alcohol, but that was not his question or fears.
So, in the future, perhaps think before you start being condescending to people and projecting your thoughts on them.
How much is enough to cause damage? What binge session is likely to be the one that starts the damage?
Who knows? But, It's doubtful he would have Cirrhosis, given his Liver numbers and the days off he has. I stand by my answer, now go project your thoughts somewhere else.
I drank heavily for 3-4 years after a life time of abstinence and it led to 2 transplants. Stop being so hostile and comprehend there is no one size fits all.
Im not, there was no need for his thought projections. Depends how much you drank. This guy clearly doesnt need a transplant with his results and sporadac drinking.
binges can be just as damaging as daily drinking, even more so depending how big you go when you do partake.
Best to wait for tests, hopefully nothing, if it’s something really bad you will know pretty quick, so the fact you haven’t had an urgent call can be seen as positive. Heavy drinking can also lead to diabetes related issues to so cutting down can only help
