In new here I've been experiencing pain in my right hand side just under my breast for over two weeks now, I've been so nauseous that I cant eat but at the same time had alot of indestion. Doctor prescribed omeprazole to suppress the indestion which i think has worked. But the pain didn't go. I was given antibiotics last week to treat a chest infection as my chest felt tight and I've been coughing up alot of phlegm . The antibiotics seem to be working and my chest feels better today 5 days of taking them, I had two days of no pain, then bam today the pain is back in right hand side and just above the breast on the right side also ( which I previously thought might have been a swollen gland because of the infection).I've taken paracetamol yo see if that helps but it's not. Pain lasts hours not minutes in both right abdomen and above right breast. Now thinking it could bd my gall bladder. Any advise on easing pain until I hopfully see a doctor tomorrow, and how do you think I could be treated with most of the nhs shut. I.e scans and blood tests?
Many thanks
Louisa

It goes without saying that no one here can give medical advice. If you’re concerned then see your GP.
I’ve found that personally, as soon as I experience any sort of pain or discomfort I automatically assume the worse and assume I’m dying. If there’s one tip I can give you - don’t Google your symptoms because it’s going to make you think you’re dying or something...
Could be nothing, could even be anxiety causing these pains as anxiety is very powerful and can trick you into believing you have a life threatening disease. Best thing you can do is get it looked at by your GP, only they can give you a definite answer.
Thankyou for your reply, hopfully the doctor will see me tomorrow and have a feel. I'm do hoping all is well and yes your right anxiety can not help at all when we have health issues. I'll see what they say tomorrow.
I appreciate all responses and I'm aware until I see a doctor I cant tell what it is,
Keep safe and well
Hi Louisa
Firstly welcome to a fabulous forum which is mainly for those with liver disease problems. However there are quiet a few of us on here who have liver issues and have had there gallbladders removed who will be in a position to give you advice based on there own experiences.
In 2015 I had my gallbladder removed successfully bŷ keyhole surgery after multiple gallstones were highlighted on my ultrasound.
Can I ask you a simple question? Prior to your pains returning have you eaten any fatty oily foods or dairy products like cheese, cream, fried foods, curries swimming in oils etc? If your answer is yes, then I suggest you cut these out as these could be causing your pains to worsen. Try your best to eat more healthy and if your over weight then think about exercising and loosing weight. I’ve managed to loose 3 stone and feel much healthier.
When you see you GP tomorrow ask whether you can be sent for an ultrasound which is a simple 5 minute procedure that will confirm immediately if you have gallstones or not. If your results are negative and your symptoms still persist then your GP may send you for a CT Scan which unfortunately the waiting period for the scan could be some time unless your classed as an urgent case.
Also if by any chance you like a little tipple now and then , hence you writing on the British Liver Trust Forum, may I suggest to cut this out until your fully diagnosed as this may also help improve your discomforts.
May I wish you ‘Good luck’ for tomorrow and please feel free to keep us updated on your progress. .
Thanks for your response I shall ask tomorrow for an ultrasound, was up all night with the constant pain under right rib. Before the pain I had not eaten anything fatty, the issue at the minute is I cant seem to eat and have no appetite, eating makes me feel nauseous some of the time, but I've not been sick. I've lost 2 stone since February and need to lose another 1 stone. I'm sticking to bland healthy food at the min when I can and drinking so much water. Drink wise I'm not a big drinker and can take it or leave it.
I'll see what she says today, with gallstones did people take paracetamol to ease the pain in the mean time ?
Hope all goes well and your GP refers you for further investigations
Congratulations on your weight loss and healthy eating since February.
Re your Pracetamol question to when I had gallbladder pain is no as I not one for taking medication due to numerous allergies! Like you I was prescribed Omeprazole before being fully diagnosed with multiple stones.
I now have an unknown autoimmune diseases that when flares up raises my liver enzymes which also causes my Esophagus to become inflamed
I'll say good bye for now and hope to hear how you got on laterz
Yes. Sounds like classic gallbladder systems. Don’t wait because you could become septic from a diseased and infected gallbladder. You could also have stones in a bile duct or your gallbladder could rupture. Go to the ER when you have an episode.
My GP suspects I have gallstones, she told me to avoid fatty foods and has given me buscopan for I get pain and referred me for an ultrasound yet said it would take awhile. I fall into the "sheilding group" due to other health conditions so she is wanting to treat conservatively. Good luck hope you manage to get an appointment with GP.
Hi Louisa,
Hopefully you can see your GP for a physical examination. They may be able to refer you for an ultrasound which can provide more clinical information about your liver and gallbladder, bile ducts, pancreas, spleen etc.
