Possible gallbladder problems

Hi sorry if this post is in the wrong place. I've posted on various communities before but now after speaking to my doctor yesterday she thinks I may have something wrong with my gallbladder.

I've had upper abdomen pain, mostly on the right side but also across the mid to upper area of my back. This had been going on for about 7 weeks. The pain comes and goes, I went about a week without any pain at one point, but mostly it is there. I'm due to go for a ultrasound scan soon. My bloods and chest x ray all came back clear. Does this sound symptoms anyone else has had? I thought gallbladder pain was really intense and you were straight to hospital. I have lost weight but I've not eaten any fatty foods for weeks and also I'm a bit stressed about what could be causing this.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi there I have gallstones it does cause pain upper right and goes through to the back and right shoulder ! It’s not just fatty food that can cause an attack ! Coffee can and dairy and eating large meals too , make sure you drink plenty lukewarm water , fizzy drinks and cold drinks can aggravate it too , not all gallbladder attacks are excruitiating x

Thanks for the help and advice. Did you notice any weight loss when you had gallstones? I've lost about a stone but like I say I've trying to cut out fatty foods. Hopefully the ultrasound scan will get to the bottom of the problem.

Hi Steve, I've been undergoing tests for right upper quadrant discomfort, so far full blood count and ultrasound clear, i do have kidney problems but doesn't look as if that's relevant to this. The discomfort was transient but now is there all the time but no nausea. I think next step for me is hida scan, i too have lost weight but like yourself have cut out fatty foods not that it seems to have helped much. Hope you get an answer, my doc is looking at liver and gall bladder as possibilities. 🙄😊

Hi Steve, I had a 3-4 week history of intermittent rt quadrant discomfort/pain, and stomach cramps. Gp said it was likely to be gallbladder related and an ultrasound should gallbladder sludge and a few crystals. Low fat diet has certainly helped although I have been a bit lax recently and the discomfort has come back! Never had the extreme pain ( so far) just the general discomfort which takes the edge of everything! Have an appt for the gallbladder removal clinic ( which keeps being cancelled and new date given!) so we shall see. Hope my experience has given you more info!!!
