No that’s pretty good with slight fatty liver. Overall nothing to worry about.

Hi Nigelhenry

No one is medically qualified on the forum, and it is important that you discuss these results with your own doctor for their medical assessment, they have access to your complete medical notes and are best placed to advise.

Take care and best wishes.

You might find this page useful as it helps to explain what your Fibroscan scores mean - CAP relates to fatty change within the liver and kPa reveals the fibrosity of the liver (or ongoing inflammation). mskcc.org/cancer-care/patie...

Your CAP score is in the highest bracket for fatty liver, however, if you can make lifestyle changes you might be able to reverse this figure and prevent the fatty change going on to cause damage to the liver.

If you are a drinker then you should address that, if not a drinker your condition might be more related to Non-Alcohol Related Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD). The British Liver Trust has a page all about NAFLD and the guidance on there might prove useful to you. britishlivertrust.org.uk/in...

Avoid milk thistle - many people on here have been told by their hepatologists that they shouldn't take it because it can actually cause more problems. There is no need for milk thistle or any so called 'alternative therapies' a good healthy diet and exercise is best.

Many of these so called remedies arn't properly medicinally tested and can actually cause LFT's to go out of whack. The BLT who host this site have specific guidance about alternative and herbal remedies i.e. don't.

Many of the commercially available milk thistle remedies come in a tincture in which the milk thistle itself is actually in alcohol so no good whatsoever and potentially dangerous.

Regarding milk thistle.having looked at blt and various sites I’m not sure of the benefits also I hear it can have a laxative effect so I think I will miss on that one and stick to a better healthier diet exercise and plenty of water to try rid the fatty liver.thanks for the advice...

Regarding milk thistle, please see our page on Complementary & Alternative Medicines (CAM)

Hi nigel my advise to you would be get that fat out of liver been super healthy. Your liver can fully repair. Once done that then enjoy a drink moderately. That's what I would do in your position. Mine tipped over to cirrhosis without me knowing. Then I became really ill. Make sure u take care of your liver mate. If you got ill. Its terrible. Wouldn't wish it on my own worst enermy. I'm slowly mending abit. Take care my friend
