Do other people have a problem with intrusive private messages from other people? I am quite new to the forum and relatively new to my diagnosis and treatment so just getting to grips with all of it, much aided by info on here and from the Trust. This is now layered with fear of catching the Coronavirus and two very elderly parents who I think would die if they caught it. I have tried several times in different ways to politely tell the person to post their questions (some of which are weird) on here. I can deal with this one but if this is common I will have to find support elsewhere. Wendy

Never received any weird messages whilst on the forum. Only helpful and informative ones in response to specific questions.

Not weird exactly but intrusive and mainly inexplicable and won't desist

Messager now seems to think that I have 'issues' because I don't want to answer the questions and have asked them to use the forum as it is intended. Don't really need this with everything that is going on with my health, coronavirus fears, elderly parents etc etc etc

Hi there. Most of us are very frightened for our loved ones including and maybe especially for our elderly parent(s) besides for personal physical and mental health concerns. Regarding private messages, I have both received them unsolicited and sent them unsolicited when that was an option under another avatar. I was appreciative of receiving them and was able to form some helpful and comforting communication with many of those posters. There are various reasons some may reach out through private message instead of publicly however seeing how you are finding them annoying or bothersome, you can ignore them, not read them, and delete them, I suppose. I am not certain if there is a turn off private messaging option but Trusts might be able to advise you on that. They could be reading your post now and that could be enough too. Like you, they're likely hurting too. Trusts may be able to help you with this. Take good care and all the best.

Hi boiler

If you ever get a PM you don’t like for any reason simply either Delete it, or if it offends you, or you get more than one from the same person that you don’t want to be getting , then Report it.

Go to the bottom right of the Message where you will see the word “More”. Click on it and you get a choice of Report or Delete.

Admin are really good and will do something about it if you Report it. Just include the reason why you are not happy firstly by selecting one of the options in the drop down Menu and then adding your own words in the text box.

Easy really - when you know how of course 👍.

Good luck and don’t let anyone put you off this lovely forum!

Thanks, have reported the last two but they keep on coming, each more personal than the last. No idea why I have been singled out

If using your phone - Go to the bottom right of the Message where you will see the word “More”. Click on it and you get a choice of Report or Mute

Delete is at the top of the message click on Edit next Compose then tick check box on the left of the messages you wish remove & it highlights Delete.

One downside to this it only deletes from view and doesn't wipe it completely. The content history is recoverable if another message appears. 🤔
