Hi yes found out i was ab blood group which is very rare. In some ways it was lucky 4 me as was only on transplant list a matter of hours and liver was deemed suitable. It's been over 5 months since transplant now. Good luck 2 ur husband

My mums blood was “ AB- “ and she got a transplant 27yrs ago. In fact in the space of 4 days there were two matches for her. Unfortunately the first donor crashed and transplant was not viable but 4 days later another one became available and she lived for 12 more years.

I am AB Pos. I had my transplant on March 8 2016. I had cancer of the liver and receiving TACE treatment. Once on the list I only waited 7 days. I am now having radiotherapy for skin cancer, probably because of my subdued immune system due to anti-rejection medication

I wonder if I could benefit from radiotherapy? I have lupus which affected my kidneys. Kidney transplant in Dec of 1983.

Question would be would the radiotherapy activate Lupus?

Hi Dallo. I too had TACE and I had my transplant 13 months ago. I'm sorry to hear that you now have skin cancer, after all that you have been through that's really tough. It makes me realise that the factor 50 sun cream is so important. Sometimes if it's a cloudy day I forget to put it on and wife will pull me up on it, luckily it's usually before I leave the house. Odd times I've forgotten my hat and so now I make sure I leave one in the car. Things like this are easily forgotten when it's not been the habit of a lifetime to use them. I hope that you're treatment goes well and that you are soon in remission. All the very best. Alf

Thank you very much Alf. I have got skin cancer on my left hand. I spend a lot of my pastime fishing and normally use a lot of factor 50 cream. Initially I thought it was an insect bite which started with a small pimple then got much worse and wouldn't heal. So a warning to others who have had a transplant be aware when spending time outdoors

Hi Dallo. I used to spend a fair bit of time fishing too and didn't wear any sun cream back then. When I think of the days sat on a bank with a clear blue sky and blazing sun from dawn until dusk it makes me shudder! I shall be extra careful now after reading what you have said about it starting with a small mark like a bite. Thanks for sharing this, I'm sure it will make us transplantees on here a lot more vigilant. All good wishes. Alf.
