Hi everyone.
I have just heard a cuckoo for the first time in years.
As a child I remember it heralded the summer and good times ahead.
Let's hope that it's a good omen.
Thinking of you all in isolation.
Stay safe.

Doing good thanks Steph.
In our own little bubble and getting on with jobs that have needed doing for ages.
Lovely that it's warming up a bit now and we can be like the Victorians and "Take a turn about the lawn"
Hope all is good with you
What would Pam say?
We're all good thanks. Looking forward to having our eldest home at the weekend.
Take care π€xx
Anne may be tempted to do "One of me poems"
Hope you all have a lovely special weekend, well as lovely as poss in the circumstances x
Till - One flew over the cuckoo's nest. π€
A wind up. π
Yippee - let us all hope π€π€π€ - had enough of this already - just want to go out out π. Probably got that wrong - is it just out?
Oh or I wouldnβt mind if the wind stopped blowing a bit so I could fly a plane.... π
Miles
Going out out is where you are going out to hit it large on a night out, you're not just out, you're going out out. π
You got the T shirt. π€
Been there done that ππ
You could come out while you're out, but that probably doesn't apply to you. π
but you could come out while you're staying in!
Hey Miles, while the wind is up and the weather is dry. πHow about flying a kite . The weather is supposed to be getting colder on the weekend.π©πͺβοΈ
Awww yeah ,Bank Holiday. π£π₯π€.
Glo.π
Good idea Glo - we bought 3 for the GC and theyβre just stored under the stairs π
There you are thenπ. I remember when our Boys were little. We used to go camping down the Gower for the August Bank Holiday. This one year my Hubbie had just started a new job .So he took us down there and set up the tent. He'd go to work in the morning and then when he finished work he'd come down to the campsite. .We all used to fly our Kites down there ,even me. The one day we had a terrible thunderstorm, thunder, lightning and torrential rain. My Hubby was in work and I panicked. SO we all ran to the clubhouse because I really don't like the Lighting.
When we got back to the tent there was a massive hole in the side of it.
The wind had blown the
side of the tent on to
the Battery and the Acid had burned a big hole in it. .When my Hubby came back down there, he couldn't do anything with it.So that was that ,we had to go back home. But not before we had another Fly of our Kites.
I think its great fun. Think ill have a look on the internet. Might decide to get myself one π€.
Have Fun. But Take Care. GLO
Ahh - great story - very wise to get in the clubhouse! ππ
Oh yes. π
Hey Miles, i forgot to mention that I didn't just come out of the clubhouse. I practically fell out. I was a little bit worse for wear.
( If you know what i mean )
Well, i had a few Rum & Blacks.
. HAPPY DAYS. Glo x
ππ Another EX rum drinker here. ππ₯πππ
Awww yeah . YUM YUM.π
My favourite is Captain Morgans π€ͺwith a little Blackcurrant. π₯πΎπΎπΎ
Rum and Black. π.Glo x.
Aww Crikey. Did you notice the message i thought I'd sent to Miles.
I actually sent to myself. Or at least, i think i did π€.
Im always doing that lately.
I just lose it.
Like Alice in Wonderland said..
I knew who I was this morning. But I've changed a few times since then.
π€£πππ€£.Take Care. Glo x.
That's wonderful Alf ππ. Not heard any here yet, but it's a bit early. The earliest I've heard one was 21st April, here in very sunny South Bucks.
David
I was surprised. I wonder if it's to do with us all self isolating because they are quite shy as birds go?
Funny that freddy - I went into the field and there were more birds - in general - not cuckoos π - singing away than Iβve heard in a very long time...
We have heard two different kinds of owls here, one that is rarely heard in built up areas. The birds seem very happy that there are less people out and about.
Thatβs exactly my thoughts!
Figgers you would have birds on the brain! π¦π
Just need to stick your head out & strike when the time is right. π Cuckoo π
Come on Down....
Alf, this is lovely. Yes, let's hope so too. You and yours take care and stay safe. Love and hugs to you and yours Lynne xxxx
Thank you
the same to you and yours Lynne
Thank you

Noooo deffo an F - you could have Googled it - so no excuses ππ..
Oh the cuckoo she's a pretty bird, she sings as she flies
She never gets lonesome till the first day of July.
I've gambled in England, and I've gambled down in Spain.
I gambled with five aces, now I've gambled my last game.β¦
Boohoo!!!! Your tough π’π’
PS At least I didnt cheat but tried my best ...F it is .........
That's not the version that I used to sing
OK then freddy whatβs your version - now let me guess itβs too rude to say - am I right, eh, am I, am I?! π
No it's the "real " version.
The cukoo is a pretty bird
She singeth as she flies.
She bringeth us glad tidings, she telleth us no lies.
She sucketh at white flowers
To make her throat so clear.
And when we hear her singing
Cuckoo, cuckoo, cuckoo.
The summer draweth near
Or
The cuckoo is a fine bird he sings as he flies,
He brings us good tidings and tells us no lies.
He sucks the sweet flowers to make his voice clear,
And the more he cries cuckoo, the summer is nigh.
ππ...and thereβs more....
Like you I havenβt heard a Cuckoo for years I would love to, I do like hearing the birds songs of the morning and I hope your right a sign of good times ahead I said at the beginning of the year we are going to have a good year this year because last year was a nightmare well so far two stays in intensive care and now this I think I got it wrong but letβs all hope itβs on wards and up wards π
Good luck to all and do stay save.
Dogbot πΆ
Im the same. Last year was a Nightmare. We said, Oh well this year has got to be better. NOPE. Twice in hospital since Christmas. Abdominal Surgery postponed because of my Heart problem. Now cancelled because of the Coronavirus. Lets hope that the Cuckoo brings us all some kind of Good Luck. π
Hi Alf. I was sat in the greenhouse today and my Hubby came down and said, Hey
Listen Glo Yes we heard a cuckoo .
The 1st one in a long while.
I hope it's a Good Omen. That's what they used to say years ago. π€.
Take Care and Stay Safe π.Glo.
Hi Glo.
I wonder if our normal everyday lives are too busy and noisy for us to hear them or that maybe the cuckoos keep a greater distance because of that fact.
It's great to hear them now. Very uplifting at this time.
You stay safe too
Alf.
Alf i pressed the Reply button before I finished what I was going to say.
Aww. And now i b....y forgot what i was gonna say. My Brains gone on Lockdown. π€.
Alf, another bird we haven't heard for a long time is a Woodpecker.
But this afternoon we heard one. We didn't see it ,but we heard it.
That is so strange to hear both of them like that, when we haven't heard either of them for years.
It makes you wonder.π
Now a woodpecker is a bird that we do normally have but for some reason we haven't seen him this year, but for the first time ever, and we've lived here 34 years, we have had a moorhen in the garden. Probably because we are not far from a river and we have a pond and so do the neighbours either side of us, but this has been a first.
Hey Alf. Have you noticed any of your Pond plants going missing.
Moorhens are known for pinching garden ponds plants. They use them to make their nests.
We hadn't seen any Robin's for a couple of years. But last year one used to come and visit every now and again A few weeks ago i was sat on a chair at the end of the kitchen by the open window.I was crying because I was in so much pain. My Hubby put his hand on my shoulder and said, Glo Look. Aww ,it was a Robin. He's come back every day since. Sometimes 2 of them will visit. Doesn't it mean that a Loved one that has passed away has come to visit. I think so. I hope so.
Stay Safe. Glo x
At the moment I've only got pond irises growing.. No sign of the lily pads yet. I think the irises would be a bit tough to pinch
I've had a squirrel running round me today. Every spring I have to pull up all the small chestnut trees growing in the flower boarders and every winter the squirrels bury more conkers to start the whole cycle again
Years ago,we used to have a lovely big Fishpond at the bottom of our garden. It had 2 levels and we all mucked in digging it out. When I was in the bottom level you couldn't see me, that's how deep it was..
Part of it was above ground, so i covered the breeze Block's with old Stone, Im a hands on person , i used to Love cementing. Then we cemented paving slabs on the top, so that we could sit on them and watch the fish swimming around in it. We had Lillies and oxygenatior plants in there.
We've got quite a big garden and we would sit up on the Patio and watch the Koi jumping up in the air and Splash back into the water.
We had it for years, we had a lot of Koi Carps in there. The one Koi i called JAWS because he was so big..
But then we started to lose some of them. We couldn't understand why.
My Hubby spent a lot of time and money trying to sort it out.
But sometimes he would have to kill a couple of them, because they would be laying on their side gasping for air. It was awful to see them like that.
So we took one of the Carps to a place in Bristol, where they specialised in Koi Carps. The Man couldn't find anything wrong, he checked his fins etc. He tested the Pond water that was in the container that we took the fish down there in..
Then he said, wait a minute and done another test. He told us that he was sorry, but the water had been poisoned. We had an idea who did it. But we couldn't prove it. So we gave the rest of the fish away to one of my Hubby's mates ,who also kept Koi Carps. We filled the pool in and put a greenhouse on the spot where the pond was. About 6 month's later the culprit moved house.I think he caused a lot of trouble for all of his neighbour's.
I know his next door Neighbour Shirley, moved house because of him. She was one of my best friends.
Hope i haven't bored you Alf.I know it's a long story. I got carried away..
Take Care and Stay Safe. Glo.
.
Neighbours like that you can well do without
Great shame that you filled the pond in and now he's gone
I know Alf. 6 months after my Friend Shirley moved away because of him, She lost her beloved Son to Peritonitis Then 2 years later she passed away with Bone Cancer. I used to visit her at her new home and she'd be breaking her Heart. Then when she was terminally ill
I visited her in hospital. But she wasn't worried about dieing , even though she was in a lot of pain .
She just wanted to be with her Son.
She passed away in St David's Hospice. Life can be so cruel π’π

We have a song thrush driving us nuts at 4.30 am. It is lovely but REALLY LOUD
