A few years ago a scan revealed I have non alcoholic fatty liver - probably as a result of visceral fat because I did carry some extra weight around my middle. Since then I have taken vitamin E and also lost weight on the low carb/keto diet so short of getting the GP to order a further scan is there any marker in a decent blood test that should indicate my liver is improving? I have just had a Thriva test done and there are several liver markers, Gamma GT, Alanine Transferase, Albumin, Alkaline Phosphatase, Globulin, and Bilrubin, all in the normal range. Would those suggest my liver is back on track please? Difficult to get to see the GP these days, prefer to check stuff for myself

Hi Angus, Thriva are the company that carry out blood tests, the one I chose was a general one for liver, B12 and Vit D etc. All the results were within the normal ranges (I was particularly interested in the Vit D one because I had struggled to get it above 75 nmol/l. Now it is 110 so much improved). Medichecks os the other one I have used in the past
I struggle to get the GP to agree to blood tests, and struggle to get an appointment anyway. This way I keep more control over how often I test, especially as I buy my own supplements at the strengths I think I need, from information in a specialist Facebook group
I have but I live in a rural area so choice is limited. From what I have gleaned talking to friends they are all much the same. I'm happy to do it myself, gives me more control, and I can go to them if I have something more acute. It's basically lack of energy and they generally think "age" and go no further
Good Morning 10720,
We would always suggest you discuss your concerns with your GP. If you are finding it difficult to get an appointment you could perhaps approach the pratice manager ?
I have copied in some links regarding NAFLD and live disease tests which you may find useful.
I've just read your message and replied notes! It's such a shame that you've had to revert to privately consultation on bloods due to living in a rural area!
Prior to moving back to Shropshire I too lived in a very rural area but never came across the struggles your having! I'm hoping you have a nursing specialist to can liaise with or youve spoken with BLT team prior to going it alone?
I do hope you get some answers and look forward to following your progress!
