This is my first time on here so please bear with me
I had some blood test last Friday just general after an operation and on Tuesday morning I got a text from the doctor's to ask to make an appointment to go and see her. I rang the receptionist who told me my blood tests we're fine apart from the liver function which she needed to talk to me about I can't make an appointment for 2 weeks to see her and I'm really off my mind with worry
I have many blood tests and nothing has ever come back like this and I have also had liver scanned in the past - do like to have a bottle of wine in the evenings but this is only Lambrini and vinter so not the strong stuff but I must admit of late I have drank quite a lot again just Lambrini I have been on holidays so they all inclusive well what can I say
Can you guys give me any reassurance that if this really serious I would have been in the same day
Thanks in advance

Hi, I wouldn't worry too much about it just yet. Abnormal LFTs can be caused by many things. Your doctor will probably just want to do a retest initially to see if they are still raised, that is the usual protocol any way.
Look at it like this- if your GP was that worried, they would get you in immediately or send you to A&E. Lots of people with advanced liver disease have normal liver function tests, lots of people with nothing or little wrong have wonky liver function tests. When you see your GP they will take a history- be completely honest even if you're drinking well above the advised amounts (your GP will have heard it all before and your history is vital in working out if something is wrong/ what is wrong).if you are worried at all, ask for an ultrasound or a fibroscan. Remember, a lot of liver damage is reversible! If your doctor gives you advise on alcohol, food, exercise etc take it. Whatever they say in two weeks, you've got this, good luck!
Hi and welcome- next time you see the gp ask what particular liver enzyme is the concern? You’ve just been on holiday so your ggt may be raised especially if you’ve been drinking every day. Start looking at your daily alcohol consumption- wine most nights means you’re probably well over the 14 units a week . Don’t worry too much but have a think what you’re doing to the liver. No lectures from me though - I’m in the same boat. Look after yourself
Ok well it does depend on the values but those are consisetent with fatty liver in my experience but you may not have much in the way of symptoms . Discuss with your go and get a copy of the results . Best k
Yep keep us posted -don’t worry too much lifestyle changes can help a lot
hi jayden livers respond at slightest change to diet and meds im living proof do try not to worry to much i am sure if it was extremely high reading they would have had u in or at least a phone conversation i think they will chat and repeat the bloods then go from there good luck
Hi There. Just got in for further liver along with a test for glandular fever so that's really thrown me I have found out that my previous readings ggt 112 and alt 108 I'm sure these are concerningly high
Your lab results tell you the ranges, hope this helps.
