Just a reminder to wear sunglasses as well as your factor 50 in the sun. Still here in Greece and had to go to a private health clinic as my eye was a little sore, I though it was very bad conjunctivitis. My eyes was thoroughly examined and I was diagnosed with Photokeratitis, sun burn of they eye?
NN ever even thought about this and was never warned about this although it makes sense now, duh?!!! Was prescribed antibiotics drops and an eye gel. All good now as it was very mild but still blooming painful.

Hi Leigh. Glad you got sorted. That's something that wouldn't have crossed my mind. I don't particularly like wearing sun glasses but will do now whenever I'm out in the sun. Thanks for the tip. Enjoy the rest of your stay. Alf
Yes, even wear them when its cloudy. Hope it recovers quickly
Apparently blue eyes tend to be more affected by the sun. I often need shades on not very sunny days. Fortunately us girls can buy big shades, Not only does it protect the eyes but it also keeps the sun off the upper and lower eye skin. I had a basal cell carcinoma on my eyelid crease, so an even greater need to cover up. Just closing your eyes isnt sufficient. If I sunbathe I cover my hair and face with a cotton sarong. I do this to prevent my face looking like a wrinkled owd prune too! My friend wears varifocal with reactolite lenses. Sorted she thought. Small lenses - her face was red brown but when she took er glasses off she had brilliant white upper lids. Red Panda look, not good .
Oh goodness, that sounds horrid, you poor thing. I don't think you should blame yourself, most people wouldn't think of that risk to the eyes. I remember reading something about being careful when wearing sunglasses that they have uv protection. As the dark lenses mean the pupil dialates as it thinks it's dark, to let in more light, which then puts your eyes at an increased danger of damage. So it's not just about wearing sunglasses but ensuring they are good quality. Remember cheap imports may not adhere to our/EU law regarding labelling.
I hope your eye gets better soon, and you can get back to relaxing on your holidays.
Take care

Thanks for sharing Leigh, hope you feel better soon
I too had the very same problem when in Cyprus, went to private clinic and was given eye drops and gel. Icould hardly open my eyes as gritty burning sensation was unbearable so had to sit in apartment for 3 weeks with curtains closed (some holiday hey)! However, after returning to UK, went to Royal Infirmary Eye Hospital and was diagnosed with Corneal Dystrophy! I am not saying this is the case for you, but to anybody out there, always protect your eyes with wrap-around sunglasses😎😎😎x
I'm still away and after 2 days of the antibiotics band gel they have improved 100%. Sorry to hear that the whole of your holiday was ruined. But at least we've now got the chance of many other holidays! Hope that your doing well and enjoy your next holiday. 👍
Cheers for the ups Poobear! However I too wear my sunglasses when its not to sunny as my eyes cannot cope with certain sunlight! Old age maybe 😎😎😎
