Thanks to everyone who replied to my 3 year soberversary. Since I’ve been clean my life has gone full circle, myself and my wife now work for the NHS as lived experienced practitioners helping others overcome their addiction and mental health. Life in and out of rehabs and detox centres has given me a lot of knowledge I can now share, I wrote a book called Your Choice that took me 2 years to write, it was published and released in September last year, it ended up being a bestseller on Amazon and also available on line in Waterstones and WHSmiths. I believe everyone that has suffered with addiction and mental health has a story to share that come end up saving lives. Good luck to every single one of you that has suffered or still suffering with the above issues. ❤️❤️

Wow, what a successful journey you have been on. I know it feels great when you kick the habit. I am nearly 3 years dry and feel good as a result, but I am now trying to come to terms with my cirrhosis. Thank you for a positive post, it's most welcome. I wish you both a very happy future life together.

Well done, giving back must be very satisfying. Will look up your book today. Keep up the good work
Congratulations. Was sober for 8 years after a decompressed liver started drinking again, finding it difficult to stop. Any tips to start that first day again.
☹️ Difficult to know what to say that you don’t know. You were 8 years sober so you know how to stop. How did you stop last time? Can you ask your GP for advice?
Which service user did you use before? Remembering how good you felt when you was not drinking, relapsing was a major factor in my journey to recovery but for you staying clean for 8 years and to relapse after such a long time is obviously a major blow for you, it’s a hard one but I’m sure you can do it again. Good luck to you and I really wish you all the best. X
What made you start drinking again, any idea? Do you have particular times during the day when you drink? You need to break that habit, find other interests to occupy yourself and your mind at those times. Even just going for a walk, swimming or gardening, crosswords, bike rides, jigsaw puzzles or the gym. Just something to replace that drinking time.
Remind yourself how good you felt after you quit before and how much healthier you were. If you find you just can't give up on your own, maybe checkout your local AA or other councellors who will help you.
You know you CAN do this, youve done it before, you can do it again. Don't leave it any longer and allow this poison to take over your life and make you seriously ill. Take a deep breath and make that vital decision to kick it now for good....... Please?
Good luck Catrinamakes. Keep us posted
