Hi Stella,
Until you know what the cause is its not really possible to say how they can be improved. Also we cant really give advice on that front as non of us are medically trained. The best course of action would be for your, or his, doctor to get to the bottom of the cause and then take it from there. So in answer to your question, work with your doctor to get a diagnosis then follow whatever instructions they may give.
If you go on the internet you'll find all sorts of quackery and potions that claim to heal or improve the liver. Just ignore those and let your doctor get to the bottom of the problem.
Hope that helps and you get a diagnosis, and treatment plan soon.
Best wishes
Hi Stela15,
Try to find an experienced consultant first. Did your doctor mention Gilbert’s Syndrome to you? Have a read about it, it’s not worrisome at all.
It does tend to be diagnosed when everything else has been ruled out and when bilirubin is the only elevated enzyme for liver function testing.
You can do a blood test that breaks down the bilirubin into direct and indirect..... I can remember which one it is, but of these will always be higher for it to be Gilbert’s.
Hope helps.

Hi Stela15
It is really important to understand what is causing the blood results. Only a doctor can investigate that. Maybe you can discuss this with your son's GP and if needed, refer on to a consultant hepatologist ( liver specialist)
Best wishes
