Many thanks for your ongoing support and understanding.
Does it mean that I probably have cirrhosis? My whole diagnosis has been basically disregarded for months and now they decided to order this test are now concerned after telling me for 8 months that I just have anxiety and I’m fine.
I don't know whether this helps you any but it is an explanation of the Lactate Dehydrogenase Isoenzymes test and what it specifically is used for. medical-dictionary.thefreed...
I notice you are not in the UK, but after seeing Katie's link it covers a very wide number of conditions. I always wondered how they could tell you had a heart attack from a blood test. You sound like you suffer from health anxiety Ajo and this is not fun for you. To diagnose cirrhosis a liver consultant has a lot of different considerations from various tests, scans etc. Unless someone is end stage liver disease, a test like this is probably one of a variety that different consultants request. If you are overweight then ok thousands of people have fatty liver. If you drink alcohol if you stop it will make your liver thankful. Liver diseases are caused by numerous conditions, but alcohol and obesity are the most common. I was told to eat a low carb diet. Several versions one of which is the keto diet. You see a lot of publicity about developing type 2 diabetes but very little on how being obese can eventually cause cirrhosis. Please note the word EVENTUALLY . It would be likely you developed type 2 diabetes first. It may help you if you can take some responsibility for your health, like losing weight if you need to . I love food but I started this diet just before Christmas. It works and after 3 weeks I lost my craving for sweet stuff.Any questions you have write them down so you can ask your Dr or consultant. it may help you if you had a good friend or family member with you too. They can take notes and help you ask questions. My daughter suffers from White Coat Syndrome. She can't speak and her anxiety is through the roof. If its for me,he husband or daughter she doesnt have a problem. Just if she is there about her own health. Hazel xx
Definitely have developed anxiety from all of this. I don’t have diabetes, but could lose some weight. I’ve lost 42 pounds since diagnosed back in September. My liver enzymes have remained normal. I still have pain under my right ribs constantly. Along with low albumin, potassium, and calcium on and off. The doctor ordered the above test after Urobilinogen (no bilirubin) was found in my urine so yes, I have been quite anxious as to what is going on.
Can I say first of all you have done amazingly well to lose 42lb, you are helping yourself a lot. If this is just a general doctor you are seeing you need to push to see a liver specialist. Blood tests are only a portion of how your liver is functioning. There are numerous tests, scans etc that will assist a specialst make a diagnosis. My bloods have been totally normal every time, apart from raised cholesterol. I am now trying a low dose statin, as last time I tried this I found it wasnt suitable for me at all. My last fibroscan showed cirrhosis BUT if you see my recent post you will see that this type of san is not suitable for me either! My specialist was not convinced so arranged a different scan and imagine my joy at discovering I have fatty liver, not cirrhosis, severe fibrosis or fibrosis - Just looking at blood results won't indicate much. I too had pain in my right side under my ribs. , There are numerous things that can cause this. I was taken in for emergency surgery in February this year. I had to have emergency surgery as my intestines had become detached where they join ie large n small intestine. I had a massive tum some days and pain in the same area. My intestine had been 'swinging ' across my abdomen but this time it also became twisted and was in danger of bursting. Its rare and isnt genetic, but I no longer get the 12 month pregnant look! My ribs still hurt but I have fibromyalgia, both sides are affected. Please try and stay calm. Keep off Dr Google too, this site is excellent but there are thousands of rubbish forums and sales pitches for liver disease 'alternative' remedies. I am pretty confident and I'm not afraid to ask questions but even I had my daughter with me when I went to I see the liver specialist. Its a complex organ ,its not like a broken leg, xray , see the damage and fit a plaster cast. Try and be positive, blood tests alone dont ive a full picture Hazel xx
