Sadly, Jaycee’s had some setbacks with her transplant recovery.
It would appear that her immune system is attacking the liver. She is presently jaundiced, and has had two blood transfusions as her haemoglobin levels were low. They have increased her anti-rejection medication, and have done a liver biopsy. The results of which haven’t shown anything wrong.
Apparently, this can be quite common. I guess I was just so fortunate not to have had such problems.
Jaycee remains in good spirits and is still grateful for this second chance of life. She has problems connecting to the hospital’s wifi, and she keeps losing the signal on her mobile phone, so she’s unable to access HealthUnlocked herself.
I have been keeping her informed about some of these posts, and have passed on all your messages of support, love, and best wishes.
Oh no, it is a scary time, good for her keeping her spirits up and having positive thoughts, it must be so hard. Having friends and support as she has with you and others on this site and in her life will keep her pushing through I’m sure. And the positive I got from your message is ‘it is quite common’ so that would mean they know what needs to be done and they are on top of it, they are not dealing with the unknown. I really hope this means a setback only and she will be out of the woods soon and back on her feet. Sending my thoughts and prayers.
Sorry to hear she’s having a tough time. My husband had really bad rejection, 3 biopsies, jaundice, high dose steroids and various other complications post transplant but got there in the end with no lasting problems. He’s now over a year post transplant and takes only anti rejection meds twice a day! Chin up Jaycee, hopefully you’ll get through this difficult stage quickly and soon enjoying your new life. Love Pam xx
Good luck Jaycee - I hear it’s not that uncommon but that’s little help for you. Your a fighter and I’m sure they will get on top of it. Once passed they say there is no lasting effect either on the wellness nor longevity of the TP liver - just got to get round this hurdle. Push on and your’ll soon be running round the ward lol - Best wishes to you - Peter xx
They prefer you to have rejection in the first year and as unfortunate as it is she couldn't be in a better place to have it now... I had it after six months but they then know what you're body needs and how to deal with it
Please pass on my love to her and to stay positive. Some of us have immune systems that don't play fair. I almost lost my life because of a cytokine release. Well before my liver was damaged with methotrexate. I tolerated it incredibly well too, so it shows how our immune systems are so complex. She is in good hands so hopefully she will soon be on the road to recovery. Hazelx
So sorry to hear the news I have every thing crossed for her
5 weeks after my transplant I had a very serious rejection. Since recovering from the rejction I have not had any other serious problems relating to the liver.
Please pass on my best wishes to Jaycee. It sounds like others have come through similar issues & although it must be worrying, I'm glad to hear she's in good spirits 💐
