I dont drink much, have no other symptoms, but was diagnosed with fatty liver a while ago. I also have diabetes, and high cholestrol, which I am trying to get it down naturally. I have severe arthritis and have been loading up with advil. My urine and stool look normal and my skin looks normal. I have an appointment with GI next week. I am not able to wait till.

A test of your billirubin on bloodwork will answer if that is related or not. If your billirubin is high that equals jaundice if it's not high than its likely unrelated. Some people just have more of a hue to their eyes than others a picture can not be conclusive of it.
Thanks a lot for replying fast, I moved up my appointment to today. So will be seeing the GI in a couple of hours, I couldn't wait till next week. Its affecting my ability to work.
Back from the doctors' office. he and the chief said i do not have yellow eyes. Since I have fatty liver, he has ordered a fibroscan, will be at the end of Feb. I have to schedule my blood work. He has told me to get my cholesterol and diabetes under control.
I thought that would be the answer concerning your eyes. Jaundice is really an advanced liver disease symptom in most cases. Only when its caused by a billary obstruction or a case of severe hepatitis does it normally present itself earlier than that. Getting your diet and diabetes in control is the best thing you can do for sure. In the meantime try not to stress while awaiting a fibroscan.
Yeah they look so yellow to me. I don't remember seeing my eyes yellow like that. I am trying my best not to stress. Have not gone to work the past few days. I have an appointment on the 27th, will see if I can move it up. I just can't stop cursing myself that i should have started to diet, knowing diabetes and high cholesterol runs in the family. Thanks for your encouragement.
Glad to help out. Fatty liver in early stages can be reversed. I'd talk to your doctor about the advil though. It's tough on the liver in healthy people and it can cause inflammation to an already fatty liver.
I’m not an expert, but my husband’s diabetes type 2 and arthritis have been helped immensely by changing to a high protein diet. He also brought his weight down to normal limits. Could you ask to see a dietitian?
I used to take a lot of Advil before I found out I had cirrhosis. Mine is nonalcoholic. I have very severe arthritic knees but you’d be surprised how you can tolerate the pain of arthritis and/or find other alternatives to help arthritis that won’t harm your liver when you find out you have cirrhosis. I didn’t think I could go without pain medicine but I have and actually my knees are the least of my worries now. I hope you get good news with the fibroscan and you don’t have cirrhosis. If you don’t please take that as a warning to never drink again or take pain medicine, get diabetes under control and cholesterol. I wish I had been sat down and it “scared” into me as I have diabetes too and high cholesterol. Fatty liver for me that initially i was told not to worry about. Good luck!!
WOW that sounds like me...Its hard to stop the pain killers, And I am trying my best to get my diet under control, I live to eat so its kinda hard. Thanks a lot for replying. My arthritis is all over, including my jaws, so cannot eat raw vegetable like carrots or broccoli.
One last thing, I know what you mean by you live to eat. I am that way too. Sadly, I don’t have that under control. No advice from me on that because I struggle with that too, however, if you find out you don’t have cirrhosis that should give you the incentive to get the diet under control! If i were told I didn’t have cirrhosis you better believe I would stick to a strict diet like clue to keep me from progressing to cirrhosis. Because if you don’t you have the ability to reverse the fatty liver and/or damage. Once it’s progressed to cirrhosis you can’t reverse it.
Thanks. It hard to control. Its a joke around the house, "leave the food and can find it in mamas tummy... " I try not go to the kitchen or out. This get my craving up. 10 more days for fibroscan, so keeping my fingers crossed.
Do you have family heritage from the Indian subcontinent?
It's probably just your natural colouring.
I got obsessed with looking at people's eyes when I had jaundice, and noticed most of my Kashmiri/Pakistani friends eyes had a bit of a off-white cast to their eyes.
Yes I am Indian (south). I hope are better now. I never paid much attention to my eyes before. I really don't know what is natural for me. And the last few days I was obsessed in looking at peoples eyes. the ones I saw was white. Hence the anxiousness, especially knowing of having fatty liver. And reading that some here have progressed to chirrosis in few months. Thanks a lot. i hope its just that. Thanks a lot for replying.
