Why would you want to?

This is your body telling you that something is wrong. In this case it sounds like jaundice. Old red blood cells travel to your liver, where they're broken down. Bilirubin is the yellow pigment formed by the breakdown of these old cells. Jaundice occurs when your liver doesn't metabolise bilirubin the way it's supposed to.

This maybe cause for concern and I think you should see your doctor as soon as you can.

I think you might know this already though.

Regards

Richard

Thank you, I do know I need to see the doctor, just a bit scared to be honest. It looks terrible especially outside in the natural light when you have to face people, it’s only come on the last 2 days but no one has mentioned it to me

Are you by any chance still drinking?

I've read your previous question that was posted 8-months ago and you had problems back then with your liver and itching. Has your liver condition deteriorate?

I don’t drink any longer I haven’t drank for months but I feel fine in myself and haven’t had any other symptoms at all, the previous problems I had disappeared shortly after my post

I'm glad to hear your no longer drinking. If I were you'd I'd just go and have a check up. Just for peace of mind. Your GP will most likely call for another liver function test, but don't go worrying your head off. I'm not sure how old you are, but the whites of our eyes do tend to yellow more as we get older.

Please stay in touch and let us know how you get on. Please don't disappear for another 8-months.

Richard

I won’t, I’ll get an appointment booked in next week just to be safe. I’m 33. Thanks for the advice I’ll keep you posted

Good, thanks for that. I didn't mean to sound nosy about asking your age, I just thought it might have been a factor. I know these things appear to be just cosmetic but I have had jaundice and it's not very nice, as people tend to stare at you. The same can be said about our teeth, as these yellow as we get older too. I'm aged 64 and I had a liver transplant 15-months ago. I was at the dentist the other day and I happened to ask if the meds I was taking could cause my teeth to become more yellowee. As they seem to have done so since my transplant. Her professional answer was.... Get out in the sun more. This will give you a tan and make your teeth look whiter... fool.

Really? Good answer (not). I’m not sure whether it’s more noticeable to me as obviously I see myself everyday and it’s not as bad as I think but your right something has to be causing it so I need to find out. No your not being nosy at all, more questions asked the more of an honest answer you can give. Thanks for your advice it means a lot and I hope it all goes well for you (post op) 😀

Hi Richard,

Clean your teeth with some plain baking soda and apple cider vinegar...The baking soda is amazing..it will get all the coffee stains too..just dip your brush into the baking soda 3x/day..they will whiten them.

Don't mean to be cheeky, but it is the yellowing of the eyes and not teeth what is being questioned. But thanks for the good tip regarding the teeth. xx

I only gave Richard the tip because he mentions in his post about his teeth being yellow and asking the dentist did his medication caused the yellowing..thanks

Thats is good. Have a look on Internet at symptoms of liver problems in the meantime. You'll find the yellow colour in eyes under the symptoms. But these days it could be more than one thing. I hope they find the cause soon.
