Hi, looking for some advice and guidance. My dad has been referred to kings for a potential liver transplant. He’s got an appointment on the 11th at kings and the letter just says it’s to meet with one of the team. Does anyone know what might happen on this day and if so what he needs to be prepared for?
Thank you in advance for any help xx

Hi, going on my recent experience 3 visits to Queen Elizabeth, Birmingham my first was a meet and greet and a discussion as to the plan they have for the future. My first visit I was terrified but the liver team are lovely. I hope you get on fine. After my 3rd visit I have been put on list for transplant assessment so I hope your visit goes well. god bless, Julie x
Thank you so much for your reply that’s really helpful. It’s just so nerve racking, my dad really wants to get it right and we are nervous as to what the first appointment entails. Is there anything you feel he should specifically do to prepare for the first appointment. That’s great to hear you are on the list I hope you get your transplant soon xx
Hì, sorry for delay. Just take yourselves a bottle of water each and they will weigh him. Then consùtant will ask about previous health issues and questions about support network and you can ask him àboùt anything.he will then go and have bloods taken and you go hòpè xxs
Sorry for the delay. Sometimes it takes a bit for new post to show up on our news feeds. I am not a transplant recipient or awaiting one I just want to chime in to let you know your not being ignored 😊. Jules and Trust have given some good replies. Good luck with everything and just try and keep your dad in as an upbeat mindset as he can be. It's a stressful time no doubt but try to keep an eye on the prize in that this is the start of a path to better things to come!
Hi on my first visit to Birmingham I was seen by a consultant to talk about possible transplant, before my second visit I had lots of tests done blood ecg scans chest x rays lung function to make sure I was fit enough for transplant. On my second visit it was over 2 days to see all the transplant team coordinator, surgeons, dieticians more tests done. After this I got the phone call to say I had been put on transplant list. Hope this helps.
