Transplant assessment.

Finally reached the stage for a transplant assessment at Kings in early July. With regards to the 3 day food diary I need to complete is this to replicate what I'm eating at the moment? or will it be hospital fodder. A bit of wishful thinking on my part I think.

The food diary is for the dietician you'll see at assessment. It's so she can see how well you are eating, what your eating patterns are and also see how much of the various elements you eat, e.g. protein, carbs etc. Its a really useful tool for them so they can check if you need anything supplementing and by how much and also give advice on what to eat when. The carbs before bed was a good one for me.

The diary is a record of what you eat now on a daily basis. Be honest with it though, dont tell them what you think they may want to hear, it's not an assessment of how healthy you eat. That, at transplant stage, they are not really bothered about. If you have a Mars bar at 2 in the morning or a bag of chips before you go to bed then record it 😊

Thanks for your reply Kristian. The carbs before bed also work for me and honesty is the best policy in giving the liver team the information that they need.

Funny story. My husband (we're both Caucasian) worked in construction, came home one evening, put his arm next to mine, and said see, you're married to a black man! My then seven year old son went to school and told his teacher that week that his dad was black. She called me concerned about letting him go home with the white guy who had been picking him up after school!

Sorry, this is in the wrong thread. 🤭

Sounds alright to me 😁👍

Clearly, many of us didn't think it was in the wrong thread.

Humor is a good thing. Might even have happened at our house when the kids were little - I've always been jealous that my blonde husband with Norwegian roots on one side tans nicely, while my dirty blonde Irish roots turn me a lovely shade of cooked lobster.

Hi Max,

Sorry for derailing your thread, I could swear I was on one asking about jaundice, which apparently looks like a suntan in some.

Best of luck with the assessment! I've not had tp, so no help.
