I’d put the post above up 2 year ago, can anyone give me advice on questions to ask at this initial appointment with the hepatologist this week please. I’d positive antibodies for autoimmune hepatitis and elevated liver enzymes. Many thanks 🎈

Why have they waited so long to call you in? What treatment plan do they have in mind- this is usually steroids to bring inflammation down and then azathioprine (an immunosuppressant) to manage the ongoing attack from the immune system. What are your ALT levels (this is the blood test from your LFT's- Liver Function Test) that indicates how ill you are and is one that they monitor in AIH.

I'm sure there are other things, but a lot depends on how much you want to know. It is a managed illness and does not affect lifespan in most cases. How far has it advanced- i.e. fibrosis or cirrhosis?

All the very best :)

Thank you, waiting list is 18 months to 2 yrs in north of Ireland, 🤷‍♀️ they done ultra sound of organs, and bloods at the time, and my gp has repeated liver enzymes a couple of times since. thank you I’ll write all down.

Good idea having bloods done the week before, I usually do that with my endo consultant so I don’t have to pay for them 😰xx thanks lynne x

Hopefully the fact that they have not rushed it through quicker means that they don't feel it is urgent. I have my fingers crossed for you :)

Yes they do their own triage, but are covering all of the north of Ireland, so I’m not sure where I was on a looonng list. Thank you 🤞🏻
