Can anyone tell me what " transverse and sagittal grayscale images" mean on an US. ER doctor was very vague and said it was cysts. The report did not say "cysts" and this makes me think it is fibrosis/cirrhosis. Any help would be appreciated.

Ultrasound findings
A term like 'transverse and sagittal grayscale images' is meaningless as far as saying what was actually found. If you had cysts the report would have said cysts. If the ultrasound found things that were unable to be identified then I'd ask for a referral to a gastroenterologist or a hepatologist for further investigation.
Thank you Edward. I have appt with my GI Feb 6.
That sentence is not your results, but a description of the view of the images taken during the scan. Transverse and sagittal are planes. imagine someone cutting you left to right in a straight line across your abdomen and looking at your organs that way. That's transverse. Now imagine someone cutting you from front to back and looking at your organs that way. That's sagittal. It's basically just the view that the scan is getting. Greyscale just means it's in black and white not colour.
Although in Game of Thrones greyscale is a disease, lol. Stay away from Old Valyria and you'll be fine.
Thank you Dorset. I have been looking up the meaning of the words trying to piece it together. Appt with GI Feb 6. Lol on Game of Thrones reference!!
Hope your appointment goes well! X
