Ultrasound Update

Just thought I’d post an update.

I have had my ultrasound which I paid for privately in the end.

They have said its moderate fatty liver and that the liver seems smooth.

I guess from that that it’s good news. As good as it can get anyways.

So massive lifestyle change. Mainly regarding excercise as I’m very sedentary. (Obviously no drinking/smoking)

I hope you guys don’t mind if I stick around as I have found some nights in the past week where I couldn’t sleep through the tears this has been the only place keeping me half together.

Of course we don’t mind if you stick around. Glad it turned out to be good news for you. It’s always worrying when your waiting for tests and results and I’m glad you found people on here helpful. By sticking around you can help the next person who’s experiencing the same issues that you have been through. Take care of yourself x

Thank you. Still nervous as the liver area aches. However doctor said that it can take some time to stop symptoms even when not ill treating it.

One thing to come from this as a family of 7 we will all be signing up as organ donors so if the worst ever happens to any of us I hope we can save a life and give back to the world. ❤️

I was diagnosed with grade 2 varices in 2014 but have never had any sensation from them, controlled by carvedilol daily x 2

Hi Lynne,

I have grade 2 varices, just had another endoscopy a week ago which showed they had progressed from grade 1 to 2. Can honestly say I’ve had no symptoms with them - well none that I can identify as a cause of the varices. My appetite changes sometimes and I have a fascination with checking poo for traces of blood!!! I know, too much information!! 😜😜

try looking up eosinophilic esophagitis, they thought I had it, but I didn't, they took a biopsy. It causes problems with swallowing/getting food stuck oesophagus. :)

Hi scaredy

Very sorry to hear that you are sad 😒

We (well I do) come here when can’t sleep (for me about 2 hours a night on average 🤪 which, since I have had my t/p over 6 weeks ago, I can’t rationalise...) and its very heart warming to see people’s views and the stoicism of those who have problems that make mine seem insignificant...

So, yes yes please keep visiting. Hate to say this, not meant to be condescending, but “chin up”!

Miles just so you know you can't sleep because of your tablets... It will take a few months but it will settle down 😊

in reply tojojokarak

Aha thx jojo. Someone mentioned in my ward at hospital that it might be that but i wasn’t sure. But now you’ve said it I know it’s right 😬😏😀

Ta!

Thanks Miles.

It’s been a strange month of some nights wishing a could sleep forever as the dreams were a nice escape from the reality of thinking about worst case scenario, and not wanting to sleep at all worried I wasn’t going to wake up.

Last night was strange as I woke up and felt like the ultrasound was a dream then realised yesterday actually happened as well.

Congrats on your transplant I hope your sleep settles down soon. If you don’t already have it Netflix is fab for giving things to binge watch till your fully settled down.

I’m going to attempt to work tomorrow, so fingers crossed I get some good sleep tonight.

Most definitely won’t be having any booze. Haven’t drank booze par a few times in a year now but definitely not even a drop more now. Being sooo careful about what passes my lips. My husband has also stopped drinking as a solidarity for me. So we are now a dry house.

He’s going to take more convincing to quit the Golden Arches though. L&R

No we always called it that so the children wouldn’t click on. Although they did work it out fairly quickly! As for the auctions it our own business and done it for around 15 years now.

I love the customers. They feel like family to me. Only missed one auction which was just after my son passed away, even if it made no money I think would still do it just for the social side.

We always do a charity cafe and previous years the proceeds have gone to the lullaby trust. This sale will spilt between that and BLT ❤️

in reply toScaredgirl

Good on yer S (lol I dont speak like that). You sound like you have an exciting life! And a sad one 😢. That’s cool to do that for charity - good on yer again 😀

I’ve been worried for so long. Firstly wish I had just gone sooner so as probably taken 5 years of worry off and also would have changed the diet a lot sooner.

It’s warming seeing the positive attitudes of people on here.

Also don’t go on drastic diets because my yo yo dieting over the last 30 years caused mine. When you first duet your liver stored extra fat because if survival mode and this is what causes the liver to struggle

Scaredgirl profile image
Scaredgirl in reply toJulie8

Thank you. That’s super helpful. I have been on the Cambridge Diet after trying to live cleaner. I wonder if that has not helped. xx

Julie8 profile image

I don’t know but it’s better to lose weight really slowly it’s not about looking good anymore it’s about keeping your health. Hard though it is slowly means you’re more likely to keep the weight down. Drastic diets lead to yo yoing. Good luck

Pearled barley every single morning with a "good' fat". One sunny up egg, some avocado or a lil fatty fish like trout or salmon. You'll be fine in 4-6 weeks. I assure you
