ultrasound

I’ve had several ultrasounds over the past few years. Two that have mentioned normal echogenicity and slight coarsening of liver parenchyma and liver being “mildly heterogenous”

It seems as the report is saying no fatty liver(normal echogenicity) but there some coarse heterogenous tissue. doesn’t that represent something else like cirrhosis?

I’ve posted before so sorry if I sound like a broken record just trying to understand all the terminology.

My most recent ultrasound noted “normal echogenicity” but nothing in regards to prior finding of coarse texture. Does that mean it’s gone?

also how accurate is ultrasound?? I’ve read in other forum that ultrasound is not the best in ruling out cirrhosis. I have an mri scheduled and I’m beyond scared for it to show something ultrasound didn’t

you may want to go for a more detailed way to scan fibroscan mri mre etc

I’ve had two ultrasound elastography which seems to be similar to the fibro scan. Both were within normal limits. I have an MRI scheduled due to abdominal pain. It is not specifically looking at anything in the liver although obviously it will show the liver.

strange that they mention coarse on one scan. But it’s how the radiologist interprets it’s very user dependent. The only way to know for sure is a biopsy which has to be recommended by your dr. I’d talk to your liver specialist

hepatologist says biopsy not warranted and not without risk. She is truly not concerned but I can’t help thing that something is being overlooked

it’s hard but trust your heptologist. I’ve had many tests and scans but no biopsy yet my scans have been ok but my enzymes go up and down and up and down, it’s very discouraging/ worrying to be in limbo. I do trust my drs my dx is unexplained deranged liver enzymes, history or Hep A with past liver disease. I’ve also had pre eclampsia very badly in pregnancy and honestly I feel that’s the reason my liver is so reactive that and the Hep A I got before pregnancy. I feel Removing the toxins from your life is so important no alcohol or extremely low alcohol use, watching your diet and exercising is so important as well. I get bad side pains if I eat poorly or have a drink so I mostly don’t. A few cheat days for food but I don’t really play around with alcohol it’s a very few and in between thing for me which my dr said was ok

my diet is good for the most part. I haven’t touched alcohol in a year other than once which was a bad call on my part. I think my hepatologist telling me all is OK made me think drinking would be OK but I’m not thinking like that anymore! It’s not worth it. I’m trying to trust what they hepatologist is saying, but it’s hard when I have really bad health anxiety my mind keeps going back to maybe they are missing some thing. I guess all I can do is continue to move forward with a healthy lifestyle, and hopefully all stays good. I live enzymes have been normal at this point other than last week. My ALT and AST were both raised and now I’m back to freaking out.

I have health anxiety too. I try to just breathe through the panic. Or get my mind on something more positive it’s hard and easier said than done. I’ve been pregnant 4 times with 3 healthy baby’s so I know I can not drink and I’m sure my liver is healed from the abuse I put it through in my early 20 binge drinking days but I do fret that it’s not sometimes
