My Hep B journey...

Hi there, I was diagnosed with chronic hepatitis B in 2008 after apparently having the disease petty much symptom free for around 20 years. I was given entecavir which was quite effective in managing the condition, but in 2014 the virus had started to become resistant to the drug and it was discontinued. To cut a long story short, I was offered a couple of treatments but opted to have pegylated interferon 2a injections which I did myself weekly. After 48 weeks of bi-weekly blood tests and at times almost zero white cell count and feeling generally rough, I was told that I was cured and free of disease. 😀

Oh wow that's fantastic! I didn't think Hep B could be cured, only reduced to undetectable levels?

I didn’t either until the entecavir failed and my consultant mentioned interferon.
