Oxcodon

Hello again

I've had contradictory advise from my hepatology consultants about using oxcodon to control gut pain.

I have a PVT and thrombosis in the other liver veins that interfere with the blood supply to the gut. I suffer crippling pain especially after eating even a small amount.

Do others use oxcodon?

I'm aware of the potential side effects but to be honest I'm desperate.

Any advice welcomed

Best wishes

John

Hi,

That's a tricky question as nobody could know the full details of your condition and as non-medics wouldn't be able to give advice on a clinical decision.

Clearly you are in a dilemma, you need to get rid of the pain but you are worried about the conflicting advice you've been given.

The only solution is to make an appointment with your GP and say exactly what you have just posted here. That way your GP can give you an answer, or on your behalf contact the transplant centre so they can advise him on what to prescribe.

Hope this helps a little.

John,

I can see that my reply was a bit useless.

Try a call to the transplant team, if you have a co-ordinator contact them and explain the situation.

Sorry that's all I can suggest at the moment.

Jim

No reply is useless. Often there is a gem hidden in the post.

Thanks for answering my concerns

Best wishes
