Hi guys...recently had a biopsy after many months of liver symptoms...all came back clear....are these tests the most accurate you could do?? Would they likely detect end stage liver disease....I know perhaps early cirhosis could be missed but has anyone with esld had there disease missed?

Hello again Ted, are you based in the UK? What I would have thought, that if you did have anything wrong with your liver, then the biopsy should have highlighted any problems. Please don't take this as a criticism, but it's all too easy to become concerned about certain conditions and we as humans tend to over react sometimes. I think that maybe your looking at the worse case scenario. As you'll most likely know, the liver goes through other stages of damage before it gets to the cirrhotic stage. I'd go back and ask again, only this time ask if the liver biopsy showed any signs of damage, (fibrosis for example) and not just ask about cirrhosis.

It's just a thought. Try not to become overly worried, as anxiety and stress will only add what ever it is that's making you poorly.

Good Luck Ted
