Hi all I was sick due to asthma and was on prednisone. I swear my belly was getting bigger. My legs swelled and I gained 11 pounds over 5 days. Off prednisone and was put on lasix to remove leg fluid. Down 11 pounds now off lasix.
What symptoms did you have when ascites started? Did your legs swell too?
Fluid in the legs is Edeema which you may get first.
Ascites is in the abdomen and is the fluid dropping out your blood. You can easily add 20kg here which would need draining to keep you mobile.
Mine swelled too. It hurt to bend my knees. It’s incredible. Later I was on it post op and no swelling in sight.

In people with a liver disorder, ascitic fluid leaks from the surface of the liver and intestine and accumulates within the abdomen. A combination of factors is responsible. They include the following:
*Portal hypertension
*Fluid retention by the kidneys
Alterations in various hormones and chemicals that regulate body fluids. Also, albumin usually leaks from blood vessels into the abdomen. Normally, albumin, the main protein in blood, helps keep fluid from leaking out of blood vessels. When albumin leaks out of blood vessels, fluid also leaks out.
