Ascites Question

Hello,

I just had my gallbladder removed after several extremely painful attacks. Drs did some biopsies while in there. Had previously been told liver between stage 3 and stage4 in some areas. Now my stomach has blown up, since surgery. It's triple its normal size and the bandages from surgery have popped off even the steri strips.

Question could this be ascites or is this a normal thing post gallbladder surgery?

I see the surgeon in a week. My local dr usually just refers me to GP. Should I go to emergency room or is this typical and it will be fine til next Monday when I have my appointment?

Thank you for any input, deeply appreciated.

Hi redeyes, I've got no experience of gallbladder removal, I'm sorry I can't answer your question but if this were me I would definitely be going to A and E to get looked over. Wishing you all the best. X

Hi Redeyes, I had my gallbladder removed and certainly did not experience any bloating. I would go straight to A&E and let them have a look without delay. It’s better to be safe than sorry

if you have got so big your steri strips and dressings have popped of you need to let someone nurse or a doctor even A & E we don't want your guts spilling out

hi I had my gallbladder removed in 1994 because I had so many stones it filled the sac so whole thing came out. I didn't get that when mine came out. got a bit of swelling from the big incision but that went away after about 4 weeks. got to hospital and get it checked as I don't believe that is a normal gallbladder surgery thing sounds more like the liver inflammation and acities

You should get a doctor to look at it it may be many different things causing it.

Thank you all, now it is harder to breeth, so i will go get checked. Thank you.

Hi redeyes2,

Please call your doctor right away, don't wait for your next visit. I think your doctor might feel this is unusual and see you sooner.

Best wishes to you,

Mary
