Anybody know where you can get a fibroscan in west of Scotland. Love your liver show liver scan showed me at 7.3Kpa. Went to the GP with referral form LYL and they did bloods said they were all normal and would not refer me for one. They were a bit annoyed about the whole thing to be honest. Interestingly they wouldn't do coagulation screen or check prothrombin as recommended either. I am a bit worried as I am having dental surgery in the next month. Any thoughts
Any advice on follow up from Love Your... - British Liver Trust
Any advice on follow up from Love Your Liver Roadshow? Private fibroscans in Glasgow?
You've already had a FibroScan & the result was 7.3 kPa which is at the start of the F2 category suggesting that you have some fibrosis but not enough to be overly concerned about. Your blood test was normal so focus on improving your liver by doing all the recommended things to help it repair the fibrosis. Coagulation screening and prothrombin testing would be overkill for someone whose FibroScan result puts you just out of the normal healthy category. I'd get another FibroScan in a year or two to see if it's come down into the F1 category after you do the recommended things to improve liver health. I wouldn't worry at all about the dental surgery with a FibroScan score like yours & a normal blood test result.
Can u tell me fibro scan said no scars nothing else dr told me nothing
Thanks Edward- it's just if you go through the liver trust website there is links to new guidelines for GPs that says traditional liver function tests only measure current inflammation and that albumin prothrombin and bilirubin should be measured for function.
Hi i had a very similar result a few years ago (7.2) and a a very similar reaction from the GP who professed to not having heard of a fibroscan. However I recall my GGT at the time was 250-ish and an U/s later confirmed fatty liver. Haven't had a repeat fibroscan byt GGt now in low 90s due to abstinence form alcohol an diet. I would say as the others-just watch your weight/diet from now on-exercise and keep the booze low....Best K
