Just got out of hospital after 2 weeks while they tried to fix the massive amount of fluid I have everywhere..and see if I can get a step removed to make my transplant quicker. Also didn't work.
Anyway while there I fell & broke my ribs. This was on the Saturday, last night I fell at home then I couldn't breathe needing an ambulance to come out. They decided I was alright.
Now I can stop rambling & come to the point.I am thinking about bringing charges also would anybody know how to find out if a surgeon was negligent?
The surgeon who put my liver transplant in was the guy who engraved his name on people's liver.
I know the whole bite the hand that feds you but I would like to know.

So sorry to hear what you have been through, i do hope you feel better soon
With regards to this surgeon who was at the same hospital i am under.
What is it that you want to.place a claim of negligence for ? This surgeon was suspended also the act he did was on two patients a few years ago. .
You can go to PALS which is situated at the hospital .but to be honest with you, as bad as it was i doubt anything will come from it. I was one of the people back in 1984 where my dentist was jailed for indecent sex acts on his patients .. thank god i was 6 months pregnant at the time 🤤.good luck in your decision. Take care ..
PALS have an office in hospitals. They will explain about complaints procedure. But you can find this info on the Internet. I know some people think it's a waste of time and nothing comes of it but these complaints are recorded and will be part of the data the hospital have to share as part of their CQC inspection. A complaint is one thing but there may be multiple complaints about the same department or doctor, then in becomes a different matter. Complaints stop other people suffering in the same way as you. Hospital trusts have departments dealing with complaints and will have a target time in which to respond and deal with your complaint. Address your complaint to the Chief Executive of the hospital Trust. You don't need to know 'if a surgeon was negligent' it's up to the hospital to show you he wasn't. Good Luck
I've always been very careful on here when talking about my experience of illness and my transplant, to avoid naming any of the transplant team. Only rarely would I even mention the actual hospital.
The reason for this is around the fact that the team should be respected and any problems and difficulties shouldn't be aired in a public forum like Health Unlocked. I would only ever raise issues with the people involved and with the team. Nothing wrong with discussing problems with care in general, but as the individuals identified are not able to defend themselves as it would be unethical for them to do so, no posts here should identify anyone or a ward / clinic..
I realise the surgeon mentioned here has been found guilty in a court and his name is pretty much now in the public domain, but as a principle, the same as posting results, we should keep our posts general and not name anyone.
The actual post was about faulty equipment. You don't expect to go in hospital, any hospital and come out worse than what you went in. My team are excellent & I owe them my life, however if I have a question about my care and need honest advise in an area I know nothing about I will ask if anybody has been in the situation.
Sorry if this offends but the only way you learn is by asking. I will keep it to livers in future but I won't apologise for asking uncomfortable questions.
