Blood tests

Hi all

Thanks for the replies to my older post

Recap

Alcoholic cirrhosis meld 6 child A diagnosed 6 months ago. And immediately gave up alcohol

I have had repeat blood tests and everything was normal apart from serum gamma. That was 289 6 months ago and is now 90, is that as expected or should it be normal by now?

My big problem is quite bad liver area pain that's getting worse, feels like broken ribs and pressure makes it hurt like hell! Drs answer is take codine and just brushed it off. Any thoughts on that?

Due for a repeat scan very soon.

GP is pleased at the reduction in cholesterol but it's concerning me, it's always been very high in the 7.9 range, 6 months ago it dropped to 5.9 and now it's 5.2 and there's no reason it should be falling, no medication and no lifestyle change prior to giving up drinking, so is this indicating a liver problem that the Dr is missing?

Thanks in advance

Roy

Hi roy1955

I assume that you will be seeing a specialist after your next lot of tests. If you are ask them, what it all means. If it is your g.p. who is doing the tests ask him or her to explain the changes and what they probably mean.

Well done over the alcohol. Keep up the good work.

It is quite normal that cholesterol will get lower with abstinence. At least that is what happened to me. Same goes for the triglyceride value. Your doctor will know.

Good news on the gamma reduction the cholesterol drop is also good and probably due to no alcohol. Good luck with every thing else- sounds like bloods going in the right direction
