Hi, not sure where to start really. I've been having pain in my right shoulder for coming on to 2years now. It started as what I can only describe as a cold in my shoulder then started to really irate me it would last for a few hours. I then got pregnant and I was waking up in pain a few nights a week I finally went to the doctor 4 weeks after having my baby she put on 2 types of anti biotics can't remember exactly what for but something to do with me just having a baby. After they didn't work I went back another doctor then put me on all different types of meds cos now I've started having sickness anti depressants epilepsy meds naproxen and god knows that else thinking it was inflammatory. In the end he was at such a loss cos I wasn't sleeping I would feel the pain coming on and refuse to eat, loss of appetite hot cold shivers sweating forgetting what I'm saying mid sentence just everything. I had bloods they all came back completely fine a little over weight but i had just had a baby. My doctor not knowing what it is put me on anti sickness tablets which did nothing he sent me for an X-ray on my upper back as that's where the pain is that came back normal he sent me for a lung fucntion test completely waste of time In serous aggnoy the nurse was worried but I did it passed not my lungs he then sent me for an MRI which something has shown up went for yet another scan of my full spine now that's came back normal my now consultant thinks it may be gallstones. I can go without food all day amd night, I gave up things out my diet and I still have this pain and sickness every night now. No meds are working im literally at a loss. I have no other pain what so ever it's just my upper right shoulder the pain is then going around and through my right breast like its circulating it's taking my breath and sometimes struggle to catch it yes I know I should phone an ambulance but I know why I can't catch my breath but yet I don't know what it is that's causing It. So confused so fed up putting a lot of strain on family life.
Not diagnosed yet. Just need some reas... - British Liver Trust
Not diagnosed yet. Just need some reassurance. As the pain I'm having doesn't seem to be what everyone else has discribed ☹️.
A month after I had my son, at 19 (I'm 55 now) I had pain that made it's way up to my right shoulder/neck area, nausea & just folded into a ball until it passed. I'd say it hurt worse than having my son. Had a sonogram. It was gallstones. Had my gallbladder out 5 months later, never had that pain again. Now I have other issues, but who doesn't. Good luck to you.
You should be careful about blood work. I was diagnosed with cirrhosis 5 years ago. My blood work was always fine i had no symptoms. I went to hospital for food poisoning they did a ct scan and told me i had cirrhosis i was shocked because blood work was always fine. It still is fine when i have it done. It shows my liver is functioning normal even though i know i have cirrhosis. Blood tests can be deceiving. My cirrhosis is slowly getting worse even thougj my blood work doesn't show any problems. People tell me they are fine because their blood work is fine. Sometimes there can be a problem even though tests say otherwise. I am diabetic so i watch what i eat. Try to get more exercise just hope it doesn't continue downhill. In 1989 i had gallbladder problems. It seemed everything made me sick my back and my stomach hurt a lot. Had surgery and was back to normal. There are scans to determine if there are gallstones. Maybe it is that rather than cirrhosis. Will keep you in my prayers and hope you get better. I would check for cirrhosis just to see. better to know than be in misery. Best of luck to you.
Sorry to hear about what you are going through; I can only imagine your frustaton . I have cirrhosis, 9yrs now
Was discharged in 2010 from the hospital so I was thinking all was fine. I was never asked back for any follow up appointments; it was this forum that made me realise i needed a hepetologist. I went in Feb this year Yes.my bloods were all fund yet my fibrosis score said something different I'm now f4 end stage and trust me that has come as one big shock to me. Yes I was having bad trouble with sleeping and non sleeping and lethargy and itching , also forgetting half way through a sentence, it was my sister that picked all this up and told my hepetologist last week .I now have hepatic encephalopathy awaiting dexa scan and endoscopy next month and appointment for mri and neurology. So please go back to your Dr or even seek out a second opinion, your well within your right to do so .. best wishes linda 😊

Please, please go back to your Dr and don't leave until he does something for you. Lots of love Lynne xxxx
It sounds as if it maybe gallstones, I had to have mine out I was sick nauseous the pain was overwhelming they first thought I had a heart attack I am big guy 6'4 250lbs and I was on my knees crying it hurt . So after they removed it the dr said that gangrene had set in the nurse said she would rather have triplets in the back of a buck board wagon going down a rocky hill. It's hereditary also , they had misdiagnosed mine several times , there are several natural drinks you can buy or make to pass the stones, good luck
🤠
Thank you to all the replies I've had, it's definitely put my mind at some type of rest and my partners. What type of natural drinks can you buy so out of my depth I'm willing to give anything a try? I've had a letter come through and I've got to go for an altra sound scan in the next few days hoping that It shows something if it does then I'll book to see Mrs doctor and if not I'll still book to see Mrs doctor with a list of things that It could possibly be and we'll rule them out one by one. I did actually say to mr doctor last year could it be this could it be that could it be gallstones the one mr doctor said no as I'm not expercing pain where I should be 😡 (Don't like him very much, as on one of my last visits to him he looked at me like he was annoyed to see me again like I'm just wasting everyone's time like a want some different drugs for the sake of it like I'm putting on this fake pain and crying to get what I want. I never go to the doctors unless I'm running out of my contresptive pill or one my 3 children are ill but I always go to the pharmacy before going to the doctors. It's the reason why I go and see the Mrs doctor now). Was hoping to get it sorted before I go to Bulgaria but looks like I'll have to ride out the pain on the balcony drinking cocktails with my hot water bottle on my shoulder and watching the sun either come up or go down either way I've got to make the most of a bad situation 🙂.
Here is a place to look and see if it works for you

My friend makes the drink and says it does not taste good but it works her gallstones are cholesterol related. If you can find and speak with a chiropractor because they deal with natural treatments vs surgery
Good luck 🤠
Hi
I had my gall bladder out nearly 32 years ago! I wish this was as simple as that to sort out! Please all of you take care. Lots of love Lynne xxxx
Hi,
If you are still in pain every night it is very important that you discuss that with your GP and they have a plan of care. Additionally, if you are concerned it is getting worse and affecting your breathing then you should go directly to accident and emergency at your nearest hospital or ,alternatively phone for an ambulance.
In addition, if you are experiencing ongoing liver symptoms without a formal diagnosis then they should be investigated by a liver specialist.
With regards to diet, There are some special considerations that people with liver disease may need to make in their diet to stay nutritionally well and to help to manage their condition. Some of these are specific to certain liver diseases, others relate to how advanced the liver disease is.
It would therefore be advisable to obtain specialist dietary advice from your liver specialist in the first instance.
The British Liver Trust don’t recommend the use of ‘liver tonics’ and alternative remedies or therapies but if you do wish to consider their use then it would be advisable to always discuss first with your doctor.
We hope that is helpful,
Best wishes,
Rebecca
Whoop whoop finally been diagnosed I have gallstones and an inflamed gallbladder. It's only taken nearly 2 years for diagnosis . I'm happy that I can put a name to this pain but my mother in law who has had this and had her stones removed has said that they'll give me different meds to try and stop the pain, before they operate.... the pain I've lost nearly 2 stone in under 2 months cos of the pain cos it's so serviver that I'm constantly sick. Now weighing in at just over 9stone doc was alarmed on Monday. Oh I haven't eaten today only had water like I was told to have my ultra sound scan and guess what I can feel the pain ebbing it's way In to my upper back. I've phoned my consultant and left a message fingers crossed they phone me tomorrow with some form of plan cos there is no way that I'm becoming a human giuniee pig with different meds so they can say they've tryed everything when theyve missed it for so long. I'm one stubborn son of a b**ch and I'm determined to get this out just as the kids main holiday starts. As for to try pass them I've been advised and catorgoecly told no by the doctor by the bloke who done my ultrasound today. Xxx
