Hi folks, Any thoughts please, right upper abdominal dull pain/lower corner area of right front rib cage, had this really for 3 yrs, was diagnosed with costo condritis but I'm not convinced. Ultra sound (3 years ago) clear, Liver bloods this feb clear. Pain does appear in right side of middle upper back too. Another ultrasound planned but months away, Doc is thinking gall bladder issues, I have a bad back (all down vertabrae) which I manage with prescription meds, if that is related I don't know.
That's it in a nutshell people, Doc has told me to lay off the fatty foods but it seems to be there in varying degrees of pain (not sharp) & discomfort 24/7, he appears to be hoping the ultrasound will confirm or not my issue, help!

I suffered from that from the age of about 20 until about 8 years ago. It ruined my life, even had to go live with my brother for a year. The pain was always sharp and very strong and right in the centre of my chest. It’s the sternum that is usually affected in Costochondritis.
Over the many years I suffered and during the many times I was convinced it was my heart the doctors always told me to push on the sternum and if that produces the pain then it’s chondritis.... they were right.
Even now if I touch my sternum I get pain. Not sure if it can affect lower ribs but one thing I do know if that I never got dull pain with the long term condition, it was always very strong pain enough to stop me in my tracks.
If you produce the pain when you press then your doc may be right.. Not sure if this helps but this is my experience with it..
P.S might be worth you talking to Kaaayla on here, she’s been diagnosed with it recently and I’ve been talking to her about it trying to ease her mind x
Many thanks, I’ll do that, I don’t know what it is but it’s a dull achey pain and long term but not a sharp pain ... it could be gallbladder but it’s constant anyway thanks again for the reply
Hi. No one here is medically qualified to make any kind of diagnosis. I would suggest if tour doc has said not to eat fatty, which includes sugary foods, l would take that advice and hope you get a definitive diagnosis from your scan. Good luck.
I just had a scan this week and have gallstones. They are causing constant pain and yes it aches. Kind of feels like my stomach is rotting in that area.. My doctors told me there was no test available for my pain due to Covid. That was a lie. I paid to see a private specialist after suffering for a few months and had my scan within 9 days!! Didn’t have to pay for the scan because I was already registered at the hospital. Shows what a bit of money can do and it’s a disgrace!
My Gall Bladder pain is as you have described - daily Apple Cider Vinegar does help with this achy pain - it gets worse when eating anything fatty - and my Gallstone is about 24mm. Good luck at your next scan.

Lifestyle changes such as minimising or abstaining from alcohol, healthy nutritious diet and exercise are good steps to take for long term liver health.
