Another medical problem

I've had pain in my right shoulder for years and had a steroid injection and physio with no effect. I was then diagnosed with fibromyalgia and I put the shoulder pain down to fibro. It is really bad now, in fact I nearly called for the emergency doctor to give me a morphine shot. I went to my gp yesterday and he thinks it's the bone at the top of my arm rubbing against the socket. He gave me a steroid injection but the pain is worse than ever now. Hopefully it will improve in the next couple of weeks. If it doesn't work he'll refer me to the orthopaedic consultant. I'm going to be in double figures for the different clinics I attend 😂

I too have fibro and ME. I had a lot of shoulder and hand pain and numbness. I was fortunate to be seen by a physio practititioner. After over 1.5 hours of her assessing me she suspected several conditions that were not fibro. Impingement in both shoulders, carpal tunnel in both hands plus nerve damage and golfers and tennis elbow. I was checked out and she was 100%. Had surgery on both hands, right shoulder one elbow. I still need my left shoulder done, it was constant ops, no driving for 6 weeks each, so having a break. Ops where a 100% success. The problem with fibro is we blame every pain on it. I hope you get sorted sooner than later. Everything helps when we are supercrocs. Hazelx

Hi Hazel, I've had surgery on both hands for carpul tunnel and My gp also said impingement but I couldn't remember the word 😊 My left shoulder also hurts but not as much as my right shoulder. I got a letter from the DWP today saying they've now got all the information they needed and would assess it to decide if I was entitled to pop. I had. My assessment three or four weeks ago so I don't know why they are only looking at it now. Do you think they've contacted my various consultants?

Lol, Golf spoils a nice walk and I couldn't hit a tennis ball , ever! Both my knees are gone, left hip caused by my left ankle! I have holes in my ankle bone! Was treated on and off for an ankle sprain for 5 years. I was very vocal about this so was sent for a scan to re assure me! Took 2 years but I got there. Surgery is not an option so I remain under the consultant who arranges guided cortisone injections. Same with hip consultant. Keep on battling on, your GP sounds bang on. The op works, so well worth it x

It may be a bone spur/ rotator cuff damage.... l had it. Basically what happens is you damage your shoulder... in my case it was years if dancing, acrobatics, and gym work also humping rolls of curtain fabric !! And the shoulder tries to heal itself by growing extra bone, which in turn rubs against tendons, like a jagged piece of stone would rub through rope til it frays and snaps. It causes excruciating pain and eventually hardly moves. I had it scanned and had it operated on, the bone spur was " sandpapered" away and the tendon stapled back into place. With the right physiotherapy its as good as new 💪🤩👍

Simple way to check out if its actually impingement. Press on the joint. If you hit the ceiling with the pain worth getting it checked out. Do it when your alone because your language will be choice too lol.xx

in reply to Radnor

Yes, definitely liver related!! Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

Hi Lynne when I was having my liver biopsy they warned that I would feel pain in my right shoulder, true enough it happened instantly and hasn’t really gone away. Was told to take paracetamol x

in reply to P13jne

My consultant said it's referred pain from liver. How are you feeling tonight? Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

Hi Lynne. I’m not too bad today. But it often starts like that then boom! Fatigue and pain. Hopefully not though. How’s you. Did you get a decent sleep? Is your pain under control yet x Jane

in reply to P13jne

Hi

I'm not to good, thank you for asking. I've got a diverticulitis flare and the skin has split in my groins, both very sore especially when I've got other things too like I'm sure many of you have too. I hope you are feeling ok. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

pain in the right or left shoulder could be what they called referred pain. its not the shoulders at all. I have pain in both shoulders but the left one is chronic and gets so bad puts me in hospital. I don't have cirrhosis yet but I do have fatty liver and very high cholesterol from my liver as well as a metabolic disorder where my body does not metabolize fats and carbohydrates right and that's why my liver is getting fatty and my cholesterol sored and now I have onset of artherlerosclosis in my blood vessels because my liver dr and gp took 3 years to get it figured out and are still in process of getting it totally diagnosed and treated. I was told my shoulder pain had to do with my guts and my thickening blood vessels not getting proper blood flow and all the high fats and cholesterol are sending fake messages to my nerves causing me the chronic pain in shoulders and depending if it was my liver or my pancreas depended on the shoulder. now I know if its the right shoulder I got some inflammation in my liver and if its the left shoulder I know its my blood vessels and my heart has to work harder to pump the blood. anyway just saying unless you know you have strained your shoulders or injured them it may not be sholder at all and something that is causing a referred pain there from a more serious thing. just something to be aware of so you can tell your dr to do some other tests for other things that can cause right referred pain or they will just keep poking the shoulder and having it not help

I've had referred pain in my back, neck and between my shoulder blades from an inflamed gallbladder and also fr H pylori. This shoulder pain is totally different. My gp had me moving my arms and saying when I couldn't reach behind my head or back.
