Hello everyone, I've had upper right quadrant pain that goes into my right shoulder on and off for 6 years. My liver is sometimes elevated. I have been having constant pain recently and nausea especially in the morning. I have inflammatory Arthritis. I also feel a swelling in my upper right. All tests keep coming back clear xrays etc.
GP,s dont seem to be listening to me and it's all getting me down.
Have any of you experienced a fight for diagnosis
Thank you

Yes!! I started with symptoms 6 years ago but was only diagnosed 4 years ago and that was because we went private for a diagnosis (totally against the grain) we were just banging our heads against the wall!! My consultant took me back on the NHS as he said we had paid enough out which was very true!! Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
You are very welcome. We just went private for a diagnosis. It might be worth it. There is also a BMI card you can apply for with the amount you need and pay back monthly with interest. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
Yes, your problems are typical of many. It is becoming increasingly more difficult to get a diagnosis from the NHS. (Please see other posts from me). I thought that, when I eventually got a diagnosis that would solve everything!!! Believe me it does not. It is just the START of them!!!
You then find you have a basic need to ‘solve’ your diagnostic problems, especially if you get into the realms of ‘needing’ a Prognosis.
You find also that family and friends get tired of hearing from you of your ‘moans and groans’. They will do anything to change the topic!!!
It is at this point that you suddenly feel somewhat isolated as nobody want to hear your story. They start to ‘judge’ you and say things to you like ‘you are getting obsessed with your health’. Now, because you are feeling isolated and unable to express yourself about what you are going through, that’s when the depression and anxiety settle into your psyche. Your need for someone to just listen to you (without telling you about how you can change your life), becomes quite overwhelming.
Hopefully, by now, you’ve added yourself to this Forum. The BLT nurses are brilliant in pointing you in specific directions for you. However, you also desperately need (now more than ever) some solid input from Forum members about how to cope, where to find support and, those with similar problems to yourself, can add a wealth of solid information and knowledge to help keep you going.
Once your ‘Pity Party’ is over and done with, you are then stronger in yourself and your own ability to ‘give something back’ to all and sundry who value your experience and thereby the Forum becomes its own ‘living entity’.
At this point your need for a diagnosis and prognosis are still lurking in the background, but solving those issues becomes merely a by-product of your developing self reliance and you no longer feel that you are defined by these things. On the contrary, you begin to feel a whole new person, and can now be defined by a strong and giving nature. Your happiness is ultimately wholly dependent on reaching this stage of personal development!!!!!
