I know it's easy for me to say but don't panic just yet. Liver numbers can fluctuate throughout the day or if you've got another bug and all sorts of things. Wait until your scan results come back and then you might have a better idea of what doctors think is going on.

Drinking is only one way of getting liver damage - there are many others ranging from hereditory or genetic conditions, viral conditions, 'diet & fitness' related issues or liver issues following on from conditions elsewhere in body and even auto-immune conditions where the bodies own defence system goes a bit haywire and sees the liver as a foreign body which it needs to attack.

IF doctors do think there is something going on with your liver then at this stage they (and we) are not in any position to explain what it is. IF they do think there is then there will be further testing to be done to ascertain what is happening and this will normally involve loads more blood tests, possible further scans and perhaps a liver biopsy before a diagnosis is made.

In the interim, look after yourself, stay calm (stress can exacerbate some illnesses), exercise where you can and if you don't do so already watch the amount of salt, sugar and processed foods which are in your diet. All will help you to look after your liver.

Once doctors know what is going on IF ANYTHING they should give you a plan of treatment going forward - some conditions can be slowed or reversed with lifestyle adaptions & some are treatable with medication or other inputs.

Try not to panic as I say and fingers crossed you won't have too long to wait for results and feedback as to what the doctors think.

All the best, Katie

As usual katies advise is tip top. Nothing else to add really just don,t scare yourself silly trying to research things on your own, and please let us know how you get on. Regards anne.

Please don't panic, I have been through this exact scenario this year and I did panic. I put me and my partner through hell imagining all the worse things and it was all so unnecessary, I wish doctors would talk to us more and explain why they are doing what they are doing. If they'd just told me what they were looking for I would have been a lot calmer about it. Please try to stay calm, as the others have said stress can make it worse. Keep us informed and if you still want to talk about it we are all ready with as much info as we know to help you. Take care and don't panic x

Which level is 132? You need to post which enzyme you're referring to and why you were having liver tests? Any symptoms?

Hi Christine , Further to your latest post. Fatty liver can be reversed through diet, so don,t panic. The majors to watch out for are salt, sugar and processed foods. With fresh foods you can control things more . If you give your doctor a ring he/she can book an appointment with a dietician. As you don,t drink/smoke you should be off to a good start. Very best wishes. Keep posting. yours anne.
