Found cyst in Liver what next?

Hi everyone i had an ultrasound and one cyst was found in the Liver,not yet had my app to go to the Hosp again,still waiting.I know this info about the cyst as i received a copy of the latter my hosp doc sent to my gp.just wondering what will or should happen next for me.Thank you all.

If they are confident it is just a simple liver cyst they'll do nothing about it.  Cysts appear quite commonly in the liver and generally don't cause any ill effects.  My hubby has cirrhosis so has 6 monthly ultrasounds - in the last few they have identified several simple cysts in one lobe and a haemangioma (benign mass of blood vessels) in his other lobe and nothing will be done about any of them since they are benign and unlikely to cause any issue.

If they thought it anything other than a simple cyst they would no doubt be arranging follow up scans either MRI or CT.

I totally agree with AyrshireK. I had ultrasound and it revealed a tumour AND a cyst.  I had operation for the C but they did not bother about the cyst(s). I still have them.

If they would be doubtful you would have received a phone call within maybe a week. Hope this helps to allay your fears.

Also just to ask now its known i have a cyst will i be monitored  regularly at all?
