Liver pain

It's been six weeks since I was discharged after a month in hospital with what's believed to be acute viral hepatitis and the pain seemed to be improving... Until last friday. I had lifted two heavy bags of shopping out of the car the day before and it's the only thing I can think of that's caused the pain to come back bad as ever! Has anyone else experienced this kind of pain in recovery that seems aggravated by movement or exertion?? The prickly itch is back again too???? I had a blood test sat week at my check up 2 days before the pain got so bad again. Don't know what to think.

Could be that something has upset your liver. The symptoms of liver disease are sinister, some times they come and go without any particular reason or provocation. Heavy lifting may have contributed to this relapse. As always get checked out.

Hi there.

.is the heavy lifting something new for you? Is so, that may be the culprit. I have a lot of liver pain, and have sometimes sore muscles around my liver from me trying to get out of bed, or move a certain way in order to avoid pulling at my liver. Darned if I do and darned if I don't..lol..

Do you have any fluid? Or did you have any ascites prior to this? Fluid build up for me is extremely painful, on top of the regular pain. Everyone is different, but like my doctor says..pain is you bodies way of saying something is wrong or out of wack..it seems simple enough, but I originally ignored my pain for three months, then came close to having a heart attack from fluid buildup (I thought I was just putting on middled aged weight, but ver fast) not that yours is as extreme..Either way, it's always best to be safe, so call your doctor and go check it out if it persists.

Thinking a good thought for you!

Thanks for replying Kimberly (also my name) I would have been used to lifting things before I got hepatitis and it was only 2 bags of shopping but I had to use my stomach muscles. Like you I have to be careful of how I move, bend stretch etc. The hospital never mentioned ascites, would they have seen it on the MRI or us? the pain is still so bad some days, just about bearable others, but my liver function results are normal again so Drs just say it's the capsule returning to normal that's causing the pain but they don't say if I should or shouldn't do certain things. 😕

This is an ancient post but thought I would give it a go to see if you are still experiencing this pain / got any diagnosis?

I have just had a bout of viral hepatitis which caused a prolonged cholestatic phase and after prednisolone treatment am now suffering from the pain you describe. Looking for any information anyone can give as drs don't seem to be taking this seriously!

Thank you in advance for any help!
