Hi Brummi. How's it going 1 year down the road? My husband is 66. He had first assessment day at QE & has now been asked to go back for a further two days before we find out wether he goes on list or not. Lots of mixed emotions!!! Jus out of interest how long did you have to wait? Thanks :)

Hi moxoa, I had my op at the QE, what a wonderful team and place. To answer your question I waìted one week. Some people wait longer, there are different things taken in to account. Firstly I have a common blood group, also the main thing is the severity of the illness. Your husband will be in the best hands in the world. Don't be shy I will answer any question you want also feel free to chat. Good luck.

Hi Again, I live in Sheldon by the airport, yes times will be challenging but life is anyhow. My partner was in the same boat as you but she is now more relaxed. I hope to go back to work soon. When I go to the clinics at the QE I banter with the nurses as I'm on first names with them, I would miss not seeing them. All in all I feel good and like a good boy I take my tablets every day. Just for information there is a way that you can access a website and read the data the hospital keeps on you , it's the usual stuff blood readings, weight and a record of thee letters and appointments.

Hi brummi. I also had transplant at qe birmingham in 2010. Am hoping to get access to records at next visit as i saw a registra at the last app and only a consultant can approve apparently. Feel it will be good to have access to blood results etc. Gp already gives me local test results. My transplant was also very quick as i had acute liver failure and it seems only had days. My gp couldnt understand why i wasnt in a coma. I found out on a saturday morning that i needed transplant after being called in urgently to my local hospital and transfered by ambulance car to birmingham. Had the transplant on the sunday morning. They were fantastic. Saved my life and i will always be grateful to my donor and his family and the transplant team.
