Hi everyone. I'm suffering here. I don't think anyone can help me. I'm not used to this site, it looks as if people can't see all I write about. So I'll have to suffer alone, and just continue to fight for funding. Nobody has my condition so I can't compare. I wish everybody else good luck.

Please feel free to e/mail me and see how to help you frans28@live.co.uk.
Hi Stumpy1, it sounds like a pretty awful thing you have got going on and the NHS should be helping you by referring you to suitable specialists. You can't be left with something so painful or serious without proper treatment and you really can't be the first person that this has happened to. I don't know what department it would fall into but surely folks who deal with hernias in the first instance should be involved in your care or know the best place to send you.
Your condition doesn't sound like a liver one other than that it the organ which has herniated through other tissues most folks on here have illnesses or are supporting loved ones where the liver is diseased or damaged.
I can't see why you are having to self-fund any treatment - I know travel costs come into bear but if you are being referred to Specialists in say London then your local health board can help with out of area expenses - as my hubby is on ESA we get assistance with travel money when attending hospital and were recently advised that if it is treatment that can't be obtained locally and you are referred outwith your own health board area then you can even qualify for help with accommodation costs. My brother has a non-liver related illness and was paid for his train or air fares plus an overnight hotel when he was sent for an appointment (from Scotland) to the Royal Free Hospital in London including an person to act as escort.
I take it that you are claiming either ESA or DLA / PIP as it sounds as though your condition is serious enough to warrant that, if not i'd look into it.
Anyway, take care, although we arn't experts on here we are all quite good at giving support. All the best,
Katie
Hi, yes it is a liver condition as the CT scan proved that the left lobe is herniating through the diaphragm. I am on benefits, andim trying hard to get funding. Thanks for your feed back anyway.
Hi Stumpy, Ayreshire is right, you wont be the only person with a herniated liver, though most reported cases are either genetic/from birth or due to trauma. But even if your local medics haven't seen a case like yours where trauma or genetics don't seem to be the cause, it should just be possible with perseverance to get a referral to a surgeon who has seen similar, if not identical, cases. Keep plugging away and good luck.
Thanks I'll keep on my mission to find someone who will help me
Good luck. I've posted some links to medical reports on your other thread.
Hello Stumpy1,
I know that Bolly has already sent you some medical reports on subject but if they do not include the PubMed web site it might be worth while having a look at that as well. Several articles on there about the very subject i.e.this is one of them: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/828....
A few years ago I had an inguinal hernia and that was sorted out by a general surgeon but of course that is something quite common and didn't involve having actual internal surgery which one connected to the diaphragm probably would

Thanks I'm going on the pub web site now.
I mean PubMed web site. Silly me
