Mike, thank you for this link to your experience of transplant.
My husband could soon be put on the list. We also attend Blackpool Victoria Hospital.
The information you give is very helpful to what happens.
We have no transport of our own - I wonder how we would be able to travel asap to Leeds - a big worry.
Thanks, Christine.
Dear Christine
Good to hear that your husband will soon be on the list: this does mean that you will be getting lots of support from the transplant team in Leeds. Among the things they will talk about will be arrangements for getting to hospital when you need transport and our recollection of this discussion was that it is something that is arranged through the ambulance service in Blackpool who will get him to Leeds when a match is identified. There was never any suggestion that you are left to your own resources and I am sure they will explore this with you. If not, it is a perfectly reasonable question to ask.
Let me know if there is anything else I can clarify with you.
Best wish to you both, Mike
Thanks for the reply Mike, you have given us some peace of mind.
My husband is also called Mike. He has NASH, oesophageal varices and suffers with some confusion. Also he has type2 diabetes.
I would like to keep in touch if there are other questions we need help with - if you are ok with this is.
You have helped us already, much appreciated.
Best wishes, Christine and Mike.
Hi Christine
More than happy to share experiences. For best advice, however, I can't emphasise enough that you raise concerns with the Leeds team: they are very good and know how to direct you towards whatever support you need.
Mike
