Transplant: Me again received letter... - British Liver Trust
Transplant
Hi Annette, yes it is. It will involve a few visits or a short stay in hospital where they will check a whole range of things before coming to a decision about you going on the transplant list. Best wishes, Mike
Thank you Mike for your help. Annette
Annette, given how unwell you have been this is a good thing. I'm just shocked that the Dr didn't discuss this with you!? Finding out like this, is not the way you should receive such news!? I hope you are able to get some support from friends or family so you don't have to dwell on this on your own.
Wishing you well, best of luck.

I think it is. That's actually great news!
All the best and Good Luck!
Thanks Rodeojo I still can't believe it mind you I have been very sick like all of you on this site. Annette
Great news!
I do not know what is involved in the OLT assessment - but good luck. I will be thinking about you. Let us know how you get on. Thy doctors do not always read their own letters - I only found out about my HE from the copy letter to the GP. I was so cross about that - I wrote to the consultant!
Dear Annette,
This is splendid news!
Please make sure you can take someone with you as well as write all the different assessments/appointments and. Times down. Also make sure you know what preparation is needed for them as some assessments will expect you to remain nil by mouth etc.
If you do not have anyone to take with you - then contact the hospital voluntary service - they are able to give a person to support you...
Best wishes Hun,
Pear
Great news keep strong.....as our sons consultant at Blackpool said when he arranged for QEB to move things forward for assessment and now on the priority liver transplant list.. you were on a country lane, early consultation re liver transplant, then you go on the B road, seeing going to see the Transplant Consultant at the nominated Transplant Hospital. then the A road, Transplant assessment. Then the motorway to the successful transplant.
Not sure which hospital your referred to but QEB's web site directory for liver gives full details for the assessment process
Good luck & be positive with all your family & friend with you for support...its a long hard road but you can do it
Your now on the A road still lots of miles to go but you will make it
Regards
Chris
Thank you Chris I will do it yes no matter how hard and rocky the roads I will be positive, I will be going to Kings College in London as that is where my heptologist is and they are good transplant hospital, butterfly's in tummy though thanks for advice it really helps. Annette
Got my fingers crossed for you Annette, that's what we've been waiting to hear. At least you will get a very thorough assessment of what is going on & what this dilemma is with the heart murmour etc. etc. ?Hopefully the decision will be taken to list you at the end of the assessment. Feel like we've been on the journey together the last few years so fingers crossed you make some progress now.
We are ticking along, no changes in hubbies condition, no changes in latest U/S so just plodding along. We see consultant locally in May and back to Edinburgh July for endoscopy and consultation.
Wishing you all the very best, Katie xxx
Yes. And thank goodness. Now they will set it up, like Mike said!
At Addenbrooks you go in for three days (used to be five! ) they do all these tests, then Friday afternoon, or the third day your in, they come to you and let you know the outcome of the testing, and also of the meeting they had that morning. Normally they asses a few people at a time, then the team gets together at end of testing to decide if it's time.
They will explain everything to you.
I elieve it took two months for me to be scheduled in for all the testing.
Good luck sweet girl!
