I have been trying to get on a stem cell trial, I have at last stayed in range for three months and hope to be accepted soon
Anyone any experience of this, from the press its seems to help, and the liver repairs itself to some degree.
I was wondering if anyone else has had it done?

My understanding is stem cell is more babies and young toddlers due to the amount of cells required. I asked for my daughter who has AIH and this was what the consultant confirmed! But good luck in your endeavours.
Not in this case, I would have thought twice, they use drugs so you produce your own cells nothing from babies or anything else!
Hi David5354 this sounds interesting can you keep us informed as to what it involves and, if you get on the trial what happens? Would be lovely to avoid a transplant lol
I will do, it taken nearly a year to meet the requirements of condition so they will start
I have a full scan and blood tests at the start of july then if accepted a weeks of daily visit for injections, then a day of blood swaps
That will be about 700 miles of travel!
Yes, please keep us informed. Think you may have misunderstood me, the stem cells were not from babies, but given to babies and toddlers :).
My daughter was on the list but taken off as doing so well, however the door is not fully closed, so this is very interesting.
Cheers
Hi
Well testing has been done and the actual treatment starts on Friday, injections daily that make you feel rotten.
7 trips to the QE2 one each day after Friday a cell transfer and god knows what else.
But will it work??
Will stem cells for the liver work as they have for heart conditions
I don't know how to feel, after 3 years of making do and learning to cope with the symptoms of cirrhosis, I don't know this is rocking my world
I know I have been lucky, and my thoughts go back to those that suffer more and I pray for them this a option.
Sounds strange but I keep wanting to break down.
I really just don't know tonight, (I only found out in the last few hours)
