Hi everyone, 3 years since my last post so I thought I would update you all. So no real changes in how I feel ( still refereeing football) and feeling well. But each 6 month check up I’m told that the fibrosis and steatosis are getting slightly worse so I was recommended to apply for a current clinical trial that was looking for candidates. I applied and after a rigorous month of blood tests, ecg, mri, biopsy and bone dexa scan I was accepted. So here we go 4 years of pills every day( may be placebo) . Bloods every 4 weeks, mri, bone scan and biopsy every year to see progression. Thank you for reading….
NASH Trial: Hi everyone, 3 years since... - British Liver Trust
NASH Trial
Good luck with the trial and thank you, if people don't take part in trials there would be no advancement in medical treatment❤
I volunteered for a clinical trial for NAFLD/NASH and had a fibroscan in February. The results were not good and I signed the paperwork for the NASH trial. However, the blood tests results were ok so I was not actually eligible for the trial. I was told to see my GP for a referral and that has been an uphill struggle, but have persevered and now waiting for a hepatology appointment (about 53 weeks in my area). If I had not volunteered I would not have known my liver was suffering. Good luck with the trial.
Thanks Wordesley. It sounds to me that your liver is not too bad for the trial which is a good thing I hope. I’m due my Nash trial 12 month biopsy in a couple of weeks so it will be interesting to see if there are any changes. I know it’s a long wait to see a specialist but hang in there I’m sure everything will be ok..
Thanks, I'm hoping that it's all going to pan out ok...the fibroscan showed CAP 328 and kpa 20.3 which puts me at F4 so making changes while I wait for the appointment (apparently I am now on a waiting list for an initial outpatients appt).
Edited to add: had an appointment letter in post this morning..... 4th OCTOBER for a TELEPHONE appointment....so just a re-iteration of symptoms and fibroscan result, no examination or anything.
My CAP was 320 on my first fibroscan approx 4 years ago and they told me then it would come down quickly with the right diet. My problem is I love the wrong foods but I do try…
I'm usually conscious of diet as my husband is type 2 diabetic so don't eat much processed food at all or big meals, but my guilty pleasure is cheese....pass the Wensleydale Grommit 😂
I’ve been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in the last 2 years as well but I think it’s liver and pancreas related. My doctor says I’m a strange case because I’m fit, not overweight, still refereeing football at my age..lol.. I’m with you on the cheese thing though…love it..
