No, but I'm having really good response with Immunotherapy trial for Pembrolizumab for HCC. I'm stage 4, l was given 6 mths! I'm now stable 3 yrs later. If you're eligible have a search for it. I travel to Liverpool every three weeks. It's changed and saved my life.

What is the radio trial is it radio therapy, is it a new treatment, how is it given, is it only birmingham that is doing the trial, sorry for the questions its just that i would ask at liverpool if its available there. Are the chemotherapy tablets sorafenitab. They wont do anything for my husband they said its not the tumours its the liver thats the problem he is decompensated this happened after he had ablation last year karen

It is only Birmingham and London currently offering the trial.Liverpool can refer but I would have thought they would have already mentioned it if suitable but you can double check.

It is a radiotherapy trial given as an outpatient every other day.I do not know how it is administered.

The tablets are Sorefenib

It is new it is only a trial so no outcomes are known as yet as to if it works or not

Ok thank you will ask them its worth a try. I take it you are under birmingham, we had to go there to see if my husband could have transplant but cos he had heart attack 2 yrs ago was refused but it seems like an excellent hospital. Karen

Hi eekk when you mentioned radio therapy i thought it might have been sabr (stereotactic ablative therapy) and it is.

I asked the liver specialist nurse about it she confirmed it is sabr, i have read about it before i think it has been used in other countries for hcc and other cancers. There is information about it on the macmillan website in case you want to read about it. Karen

This is very interesting. My brother has cirrhosis of the liver and has just been told that the oncologist need not see him anymore because there is nothing he can do. When he asked about liver transplant he was told he was 'too far gone'. He took Sorafenib for 2 weeks but the side effects were horrendous. My brother got every side effect you can get with it. What else can he do? Will another oncologist put him on this infusion/drip if he went to a different hospital? Any help will be gratefully received.

Most here have the HCC coupled with cirrhosis. At this point all that is offered is clinical trials or natural therapies
