Hello everybody, haven't posted for quite a while, life's been a bit busy. I thought I would finish my running week with a 5k, early, or 'earlyish' on Saturday morning. It would be my 4th run of the week; a 3.5k, 4k and 5k so I thought maybe another 5k to finish up with. I left home about 7.45am and went to the local country park (Upton), the car said it was -6 and certainly felt like it! 🥶 My current 5k time is about 33 mins and I have to say it felt a lot longer, the worse part was my hands, even with gloves on my hands were absolutely frozen. Even when I got home it took me over an hour to thaw out, probably one of the coldest runs I can remember. Hope everybody is having a good weekend, stay warm! 😃
A -6 degree 5k yesterday. . . : Hello... - Bridge to 10K
A -6 degree 5k yesterday. . .
Congratulations to you orangeguy on completing all those runs in one week, especially the run when the temperature was - 6C/21F, yes that's a very cold temperature to run in, it reminds me of running at a parkrun in 2019 when the temperature was also - 6C, not very pleasant although I had one of my quickest 5K's at 30:56, that's the only time I have run in such low temperatures, the good news is it's to get milder this week.
Yes, it was just a bit too cold, well for me anyway, probably won't that again but if I did I would certainly have thicker gloves on and not just thin running gloves 🥶🙄
From now on I look at the temperature for around 9/10 o'clock on a Saturday morning, if the temperature is minus 0C/32F I will not go to parkrun but instead run what I call a short 3K maintenance run around the park only a two minutes walk from where I live.
Well done on consistently getting out there - such a challenge in this weather!🥶❄️ Looks like it is going to be a little milder this week, which will make it easier for all of us.🙂
Hi Orangeguy, Great to see you still rocking your running.
Cold hands are very painful, I feel for you. Luckily in the South where I am its quite a few degrees warmer.
Keep up the great work, stay safe on icy ground though.
💚🏃xxx
Brrrrr! Huge well done to you! It certainly is testing times... !
Great photos and a great set of runs! Once this cold snap goes we will all be relieved and come summer heat we’ll be wanting it back again 🤣
It sounds like you w found a way to run that works despite the weather. Nice one!
