Took it easy yesterday, lots of stuff to do around the house. I went to the local market and treated myself to cheese straws and spinach pies then boiled up Sunday's chicken carcase for some healthy soup. As I was about to serve the soup and cheese straws the doorbell rang. It was a belated birthday present from my sister, a hamper of Cornish pasties, clotted cream, scones etc, total surprise. So yesterday I ate way too much pastry (which was great )
Today it seemed like a good idea to have a run to make up for the overindulgence. Just 3k, nice and easy. Except that Monday's speed run seemed to put wings in my feet and I kept having to slow myself down as going fast wasn't the plan. Something about being out in the fresh air, the wind blowing in the right direction for a change, the warm sunshine, the spring flowers, all so intoxicating.
A slight detour halfway through meant that the 3k point was a bit short of where I usually stop, so I looked at the distance left and decided to round the run up to 3.14km, affectionately known as a pi run (maths nerd here )
The temptation to go fast was irresistible so I just went for it for the final 140 metres. Looking at the NRC app I saw 3.14 on screen so pressed stop. It read out my stats...3.15. So, pi and a bit, rather like yesterday's menu.
Oh, and I had the spinach pies for lunch, still looking forward to the scones. Just as well my running gear stretches 😂
