My local parkrun 5 minutes away but a tough hilly course and my pb is set at this weirdly the other course about 30 minutes drive but a flatter course and much busier over 600 runners 🏃‍♀️. Now the question is what course is going to benefit me more in the long run?. Also the one further away has pacers my local one doesn't I love pacers I'm awful a pacing myself. Also why am I running quicker on hills than flats? HAPPY EASTER 🐰 🐣 EVERYONE

Does it have to be one or the other? I’ve found my running progresses best when I’m mixing things up and enjoying myself. Hills are brilliant for building fitness. So are tempo runs where you run a little outside your comfort zone. Running places you enjoy can be really motivating.

I often run quicker up hills because I get into a mental rhythm to drive up them and that can be quite quick! Maybe you’re doing the same. Pacing comes with practice. You’ll get there.

Presumably parkrun is only one of your weekly runs. I’d try not to overthink this one particular aspect of your running giving it more importance than it deserves. It’s a phase we all go through!

Happy Easter 🐣

I guess the choice is yours…but hills will make you quicker and stronger, so always good for our running! Personally, I couldn’t do a hilly parkrun every week so would definitely mix it up!

I think it’s also good to be mindful what your focus is at any particular time - for example, not over doing speed training if you are also extending distance - if that makes sense?
